2014 Blade Show Knife Of The Year® Award Winners

Lionsteel is really stepping their game up, interesting that CRKT won overall...The Hijinx doesnt really interest me. Some other great blades on the list too...that Spartan/Les George is SWEET. Congrats to all the manufacturers & winners....this year is gonna hurt my wallet;-)

If the word "sexy" can be applied to a knife design, the TiSpine is the sexiest knife I own. As I said before, leave it to the Italians . . . :D

As usual, we're in agreement, though in my case the TiSpine in question is this one:

After a break-in period it's not just pretty, it feels just about perfect, operation-wise. Super smooth, everything is tight, just really well done all around.

There's a lot to like about the high-quality LionSteel-made knives including the CRKT Hi Jinx.

Does anyone have more info on the Spartan slip joint? Haven't seen any videos or anything on it. It looks like it has a flipper?

I just read in Blade that the MSRP on the Hi-Jinx is over $500. For a CRKT? I know it's actually manufactured by Lionsteel and they're using good materials, but c'mon. This is a company that usually sells knives for under fifty bucks. Half a grand seems like they're really reaching. How much the Buy Tigh cost $600+? Does anybody know someone who actually bought one?

I believe that a few were at Blade, and they already sold.

I think of it more as a LionSteel and Ken Onion collaboration than a CRKT Knife. All they did was put Lionsteel's engineers in touch with Mr. Onion and bankroll the project.

Valid points. A good analogy is the VW Phaeton which was selling for $100K trying to compete with BMW, Mercedes Benz and Audi in the luxury sedan market! Certainly, not a money-maker but perhaps it'll make inroads into broadening CRKT's audience and image. From CRKT's website: MSRP: $500, Limited edition: 525 numbered pieces.

The CRKT Buy Tighe makes no sense at all with a MSRP of $750, a street price of $650, 154CM blades and made by CRKT. At a run of 500 pieces it may take many years to sell them all.

I believe someone from CRKT at Blade said they were only making 500 of them so people could buy them with confidence that the knife will hold it's value.

It only makes a difference if it's desirable. It's a nice looking knife but I haven't seen anything on it that pushes the bounds or tries something new like the prior Overall KOTY winners have.

I would have rather seen the Rubicon win.

My vote would have been for the Rendencion

I whole-heartedly agree....glad the Rubicon still got an award though. That is one pretty knife

Please give us a short review and some impressions of the TM1.I have this one in my sights.I believe some may be en route to dealers soon.
Best,
salmonkiller

probably one of the best production lockback folders at the show. The pivot is on bearings so it's super smooth. The knife is extremely light because of the CF construction. The lock up is solid with no play at all. There will be a cheaper aluminum version. Overall, the knife is just slick and sexy. Of all the production knives that I checked out, this one left the most impression. I wish it was for sale.

I was hoping I would like the Spartan Blades slip joint. The V14 is a must have though. :D:thumbup:
