2014 Blade Show Knife Of The Year® Award Winners

People continuously underestimate Lion Steel. Last year it finished second in quality to CRK.

I guess I might be guilty of that, but I had a NIB DPx HEST 2.0 several yrs ago when it first came out, and I was definitely not impressed. I sold it quickly without giving it much of a chance.
I have talked with folks, though, who have other Lion Steel products and they are happy.
I congratulate Lion Steel for the award.
It must be very good if CRK takes a backseat in Quality.
I've had plenty of ZT models that were/are super-good, and a great Kershaw JYD 2.0.
It's nice that we have several manufacturers who are "that good."
The TM1 looks very interesting...will want to see it further on...
My hat is off to KAI...
Thanks to you folks for some VERY nice pics.

Congrats to the winners! Interesting results - good to see a variety of brands on the podium. Lionsteel has definitely impressed me lately - the TiSpine was not for me but undoubtedly a gorgeous knife. The Rubicon looks pretty awesome, excited to give that a go when they are available.

I want to see this CRKT Hijinx that beat out ZT for knife of the year

As usual, we're in agreement, though in my case the TiSpine in question is this one:

After a break-in period it's not just pretty, it feels just about perfect, operation-wise. Super smooth, everything is tight, just really well done all around.
Gorgeous! :D

3.3 inch blade and 6.4 ounces... The hi-jinx is a chunk.

Ken calls the CRKT Hi Jinx an "Urban Tactical Knife" that doesn't look tactical but is robust & heavy-duty ("beefcake")!

The 3.3" blade is 0.2" thick and the titanium scales 0.1875" thick! That kind of beefiness translates to weight!

The Hijinx is a good looking blade......Im a ZT man so it would really have to blow my mind when I handle it to beat out a ZT for knife of the year. Just don't see how company that sells knives that are mostly under 50$ can earn knife of the year. Its just hard to swallow for me.

I remember the same thoughts when Kershaw came out with the composite blade Tilt, Volt, Tyrade, Speedform, etc. and then the Zero Tolerance line.

Maybe the reason why Hi Jinx won is because it excelled at almost all aspects of the design's purpose: being a robust, tactical, smooth , ergonomic and sharp knife that just looks so sexy! I never heard of it until it won the award this weekend. I have to admit that I love how it looks which is the reason I couldn't wait and bought it straight from CRKT. I love my Chris Reeves and if he were to make this knife, I'm sure he would charge a lot more than $500 for a caged bearing flipper with super thick blade stock and titanium.

The Stainless Steel version was the original and only version. The Titanium version was actually in response to a request from an ultra light back packer. They don't want the extra weight, but they can always add a little extra force to their swing if they need to. His statement was that if you can get all that in there but keep the weight around half of the steel one then I would definitely buy one. All of the booth holders (companies who actually make production knives) were the ones who voted it for it. The number one response to people viewing it at the show was "I saw this on the internet and I wanted to see it in person". Most but not all went away as fans.
