2015 Case Tony Bose annual collaboration, what pattern are they going to use?

First Rob I want to thank you for your very kind words earlier and right back at you!

Secondly, I have never seen Tony's DE Cattle with a clip master. Maybe newer design than the older spear master?

This is what I know about these particular Cattle knives, the ones with the spear master that is. Or I should say, I think I know. Cattle knife was first then the Stockman. In between the two there was a transition period if you will. A serpentine frame with a spear master. This was called a Premier Cattle. Not to be confused with Premium Stockman. You learn quite quickly that the cutlery producers did not like this pattern. I can only imagine the difficulty fitting a spear master into a serpentine frame. This is witnessed by the near absolute scarcity of them. I have pursued antique Cattle knives for sometime and have handled/seen exactly three. With the exception of Tony's DE.

I would be remiss without mentioning Mr. Oeser and Mr. Ploppert who also tackled this pattern. The later having won Best New Maker at Blade for it.

And that is about what I know.

Cool!

nice, 3 5/8" makes it a very nice and pocketable size, I hope that holds true for this version. I was afraid it was a 4" or larger.

I'm imagining Tony saying: 3-5/8" won't feel like a 'tater in your pocket. lol

I have, but sadly I can not find the pic. I had Tom build me one based off Tony's clip blade cattle knife.

Rhett Stidham sent an original of this pattern for us to pattern several years ago. It had a spear master blade with a punch. Diamond Edge was a trade mark of the Shapleigh Hdw Co in St Louis. Very old brand. Most of their early knives were made by Empire, I believe this knife was made by them but can't prove it. The one Rhett sent was the only one I've ever seen, probably more out their somewhere.

I have made several of this pattern with a spear master and all blades as well as a spear master with a punch. Sense I like the clip blade better that's what I decided to have Case make it with. It's a great , rare old pattern and they did a great job on it. It really works nice. I realize you can't please everyone with the blade choice so I just go with what I like. Ha. It was well received at the SHOT SHOW. They couldn't get stag for it so it was replaced with white pearl. Kick ass knife.

New Graham, a supporting member of Bladeforums, may be booked up with reserves.

Tony, do you know if the price will be in line with the whittler from last year?

This might be my only chance for a long while at a multi blade custom quality pattern.

That is a very nice looking knife! I am not normally a fan of clip blades but I might have to make an exception with this one

Guess I have to start paying on my order now. Whew, three blades of 154CM and near custom fitting, I guess it would be expensive. A custom three blade stockman would probably be at least double that price.

Have these surfaced yet? Looks like an exceptional knife! Great work Tony!

I got.......this..........close at the Blade show. I shot right back to the Case booth to see if they by chance brought any to sell. No such luck!

Never mind. Irrelevant post, I did not see a pattern has been selected.

Oh, my golly that looks fine.

I'd love for this pattern to make it into Case's regular production, a la the Swayback and Panama Jacks, etc.

While I love the pattern and am sure construction is A+, something just looks a little off? Guess I am just not really digging the swedge or pulls. They seem rather random to me and not really cohesive at all. Then again, that's just me.

I saw them on a dealer's site that I can't mention here. Taking pre -orders for delivery in December.

I got mine this afternoon. I was expecting delivery tomorrow, according to USPS tracking, but when I got home from work it was in the mailbox.

It is, as should be expected, an excellent knife. It's my son's first birthday tomorrow, so I'll try to get some pics but please forgive me if I don't get them online as soon as I would like.
