Haven't seen a thread on CRKT yet. In my opinion CRKT has made some improvements with their offerings for 2015. Some good designs with a LOT less of the "Firesafe", "AutoLAWKS" and "Outburst" nonsense from previous years. Another thing I have noticed is that many of their new designs have tip up carry. I do wish they would offer their knives with some higher end steels, but if you are interested in some well designed budget knives I think you may find a couple that interest you this year.

Personally I like the design of the G.S.D., and the Hootenanny (terrible name). The Squid reminds me of a budget Spyderco Techno. I also like Achi and Akari neck knives. The Hunt'n'Fish looks like a nice Bird&Trout style fixed blade. They are also offering a carbon steel (1075) bush craft knife called the Saker.

However, if you don't like AUS8, BD-1, or 8CR13MOV, you will be disappointed.

I don't mind AUS-8 or 8cr13Mov, but I don't think CRKT is even trying anymore. None of their designs really "pop" and the materials don't help sell it.

Seriously... What is this supposed to be?

Btw, before anyone gets their panties in a bunch, there are a few CRKT's that are my favorite designs.

They haven't kicked it to the Cold Steel level yet, but certainly far more interesting stuff than they've done in years. The GSD and Squid are must haves and I want a BT-70 as well.

Erik, good points. I personally am in for a BT-70.

I like a few of their designs. I especially like the Onion-designed Eros with the titanium handle. That one is a cool and classy knife, but I lament seeing more and more Chinese made CRKTs. In my opinion, QC on their Chinese knives are noticeably below that of their Taiwanese models. I always thought of their AUS-8 steel Taiwanese knives as decent low-budget "affordable" knives, but some of the Chinese CRKTs I've seen are mediocre at best.

Not much there for me. I'll be interested to see what CRKT's candidate turns out to be for the 2015 Blade Show Knife of the Year Award.

There was a thread a bit back where we talked about this but certainly not as directly as this thread seems to be intended. I will quote myself from the other thread, because that is a real thing that I can do:

If the Fossil was in a better steel I would have one already. I love large frame locks. I just can't justify the street price for Chinese 8cr.

There are a couple interesting new CRKT designs coming out, including the one you linked. The problem for me will be price and fit/finish/quality Control. These things have been problems in the past for CRKT. I will need to see some reviews on these blades before seriously considering buying one. Not that I sit around watching reviews all day, in this instance I really need to see if the quality is going to be there for the price. I didn't watch a review for a Sebenza before purchasing one. I knew the quality was worth the price. CRKT can be hit and miss.

I'm fine with these steels at a certain price point and if the product is quality. Kershaw does a great job of using less expensive steel on interesting well made knives but keeping the price reasonable.

Oh, and just to add, this looks like an impressive year for knew blades. ZT will get most of my attention when/if those knew designs hit the market. Kershaw has some interesting stuff as well. Cold Steel is upgrading their steel on a lot of knives and has some new stuff that looks exciting. It will be hard if not impossible to fit CRKT in there if the price is not right and out of the question if the quality is not there.

I am with Quiet on the BT-70. Also the Yukanto, if the sheath proves to be what it should be. I have had a few of the Williams folders and fixed blades. The Hissatsu was good only after removing the torsion bar, impossible to open before. The Shinbu and Hissatsu fixed blade were great but the sheaths sucked. How am I supposed to carry my 9" fixed blade to the grocery story on my LBE if it won't stay in the sheath inverted?

I'm really digging the BT-70 and the GSD. Some of my CRKT's have been miss (Crawford-Kasper folder, M16 which was promptly returned) But most like my Foresight, Ripple, M1, Apache II, Dragon, KISS Assist, Stiff KISS, and Obake have been excellent blades. I can't wait to get my hands on a BT-70, just wanna see the street price on it first. Seems like a BT-70 is a must have blade for most so far.

I wish more mainstream manufacturers would do collaborations with Terzuola. I love my Spyderco Starmate, but I'd kill for a ZT collab with him. Could you imagine a ZT Starfighter? Dang.

That CRKT Terzuola BT-70 does look interesting. The blade shape reminds me of the Spyderco Double Bevel, minus the Spyderco hole of course, and the blood groove on the CRKT. I dig the handle design on the CRKT. Tip up carry is a plus too.

BT-70 looks good. Gotta agree that it brings the Double Bevel to mind.

I'd like to see more Liong Mah stuff. This EDC offering is ok, but I prefer his aggressive designs.

I like the Deviation. The uber-low saber grind doesn't look great, but the knife reminds me a bit of some of the weird and wonderful stuff they used to offer. I was hoping for a return of the Hole In One, though, or some variation thereof. :(

Honestly when crkt had that limited edition made by lionsteel i thought it meant they were finally starting to be serious about their knives. Im not saying they should stop making the low end and lower mid market knives. Im just saying there is nothing they currently make or are planning to make that i can take seriously. And in most cases the function was fine but nearly every crkt i have ever owned lacked in fit and finish.

I agree, they seem to be focusing more on the budget end of things which doesn't interest many of us hard core knife knuts. If the fit and finish is there I think there are some decent offerings. We will see... I agree with bld522 it will be interesting to see what their Blade Show Knife will be.

They haven't kicked it to the Cold Steel level yet, but certainly far more interesting stuff than they've done in years. The GSD and Squid are must haves and I want a BT-70 as well.

Agreed. The BT-70 & Ikoma's "No Time Off" both appeal to me quite a bit. I own 2 of Ikoma/CRKT collaborations now and they are both solid winners - IMHO. :)

feels weird to say this, but Im actually going to buy a CRKT this year! That Terzuola is freakin sweet....and its ripe for pimping! I cant stand the spyderco/Terzuola collabs, im very excited to get one in my pocket. I hope they release soon!! I wish the steel was a bit better, but overall it looks like a great knife.
