2015 CRKT Offerings

I wish more mainstream manufacturers would do collaborations with Terzuola. I love my Spyderco Starmate, but I'd kill for a ZT collab with him. Could you imagine a ZT Starfighter? Dang.

Off the top of my head Terz has collaborated with Spyderco, CRKT, Strider, Microtech and 3 rivers manufacturing.

I just purchased a jonsson Mora Sweden boot knife at a garage sale for a buck.....it needs a little work..I'm looking for replacement collars...any advice?

The Tighe Rade would be right up my alley, but I don't like the scale pattern(s) and steel choice. The G.S.D definitely has potential, though, so I'll be curious to see what it actually sells for.

Hey!
Did you hear about the 2014 knife of the year, the Hi Jinx?

Oh, that's right.

Hmmm...

Sorry.

The No Time Off looks like a very tough straight up work knife, and I would feel much more confident using it as such with that newly designed liner lock. The GSD looks good too.

The GSD is a fantastic design brought down by eh materials. Give me the GSD in full Ti framelock and a proper steel and I'd be in 100% even at like $200 ish street price.

6 ounces for 3 1/3 inch blade is a little crazy.

I don't mind AUS-8 or 8cr13Mov, but I don't think CRKT is even trying anymore. None of their designs really "pop" and the materials don't help sell it.

Seriously... What is this supposed to be?

Btw, before anyone gets their panties in a bunch, there are a few CRKT's that are my favorite designs.
That Looks extremely hard to use

I like the Northcliffe and the Squid.

I kinda like the Hootenanny too, but the name is just abysmal...I mean, really CRKT?

I'll get one to try out regardless, but I agree about a premium version needing to happen. Hopefully they will do one in the future.

This collection cements that impression of CRKT of had for awhile: mid level materials used to make designs notable for novelty, not function.

The only CRKT I've kept is a Rollock in AUS-6 and clear plastic. Cute mechanism, but not so useful with cheap materials.

I'll probably pick up that goofily named Mah-chete, but the rest, eh, too much other stuff from other companies I want for me to get real excited about these.

Oh, that's right.

I was one of the few that bought one. It has turned into one of my favorite EDCs and I can see why it won. I wouldn't be surprised if their higher end line ends with the Hi Jinx though. The knife won Knife of the Year and yet they still have some of their 525 pieces left 6 months later.

It would make me a little nervous committing to the enthusiasts if the knife that won that award couldn't sell out in a month, let alone months and months later.

Unfortunately, I believe my interests in CRKT will end with the Hi Jinx.

I just am not sure how they justify still asking $400 for it. I know it's LionSTEEL and all that, but seriously, $400 will get you a damascus TiSpine. What's so special about the HiJinx, other than the awards, that makes it worth so much more than other LionSTEEL-made offerings?

Other than winning the award, I would factor in Ken Onion, Lionsteel, and Columbia River getting a cut. That, and the fact that it is a limited run.

I really like the design. I hope the scalloped handle idea and over travel pivot is used in more designs. The inverted lockbar cutout was a nice touch too.

I understand $400 is pretty steep, but I believe this knife compares to other offerings in that price range. If they hadn't offered it at $300 for a few days and then jacked the price up, it would have likely easily sold out by now. Increasing the price was a very bad idea IMO. A price increase like that will typically force those who are on the fence to move on. Even if they initially listed it for $400 and kept it at that price, it would have sold out IMO.

I don't see much that I get hot and bothered about.
At least the company is doing more frame lock knives instead of liner locks.
