2015 CRKT Offerings

Overall, CRKT's lineup just doesn't excite me. The only CRKT folders I like are the Otanashi Noh Ken and the newer, slightly smaller version (Shizuka noh Ken). That said, the Otanashi Noh Ken was my favorite carry knife until I lost it last year. I just received the Obaki fixed blade in the mail this morning and like it so far. I don't usually carry a fixed blade but this is so small and light I might start.

One of the first knives I ever bought was the Polkawski Kasper fixed blade and Crawford Kasper folder version. I liked them in 2001/2002 time-frame when I bought them because I didn't know any better (at the time, the only other brands I owned were cold steel and smith & wesson ). When I learned more I got rid of them.

A comedian once said, "The Enchanted Forest is what Walt Disney would have done if he only had $1.25 to build his park."

That's how I feel about CRKT, for the most part. When I look at their stuff, I keep imagining a designer showing them a gorgeous piece, and CRKT people saying, "we need to make this distinctly ours. Let's do it in 8cr13mov, add tassels, and spray paint some color on it!!!"

That's painful. I WANT to like them. I live in walking distance of their HQ. Thankfully, that means ZT is also local, so I feel good about my EDC.

I just received a Model 3760 Saker bushcrafter for T&E this week. Solid knife and an interesting take on the traditional bushcraft knife theme. Working up a review to post in the near future if anyone is interested. For the record their new offerings in 1075 and 1095 (Mah and Woods in particular) seem to be very solid and well thought out designs.

This is one of those companies that very very rarely appeals to me. Their designs just don't do it for me. Every now and then one will stand out a bit but not often

They need to do whatever they used to.

-S2
-DAWG
-Apache
-Marzitelli Prowler
-Shasta and Rainer series
-Pro Guard
-Falcon
-Hammond Cruiser

If they made newer and better version of those they would win.

I am looking forward to getting the No Time Off...as soon as I stop buying other knives ;-)
