2015 Forum Knife. A Work in Progress!

Is it an optical illusion in the pictures Barry posted in the other thread, or are some of the pivots not centered laterally in the scales?

It does appear to be the camera angle, to me.

Without having one in hand, I'm going to gander that what we're seeing is known as photographic parallax-- wherein objects outside of an image's focal point can appear to keen away from that center (<-- a simplified description).

interesting, I was going ot suggest that the lines of the bocote make us susceptible to distorted perception, like the ponzo illusion.

The pivots are NOT dead center; they are slightly closer to the blade by design.

Parralex would not occur to that extent at the centre.

And technically parallax would not occur at all were it's located. Optical illusion maybe.
As Barry said, it was by design, and I'm assuming to get the proper action expected from the knife. That makes more sense to me.

Nit-picking already? That's part of the allure of these knives. They will be different from pivot to pivot, pin to pin, and cover to cover, which will include differences on each knife - mark side; pile side. Perhaps the pivots are a bit off center or maybe it's the photographic angle but what's to nit-pick about? They look great.

My pleasure Jack. I didn't order one of these knives directly. One of the members that ordered multiples is gifting one to me and I'm looking forward to getting it.

I just received mine today and must say it looks great. The wood look good. It definitely fills the hand but not to much. Have to run but will look it over more and get some pictures posted

Since when is asking a simple question nitpicking? All I asked is if the pivots are off center and Barry answered that they are by design.

At risk of double posting this picture, I gotta say that the fit/finish on these are top notch. Well done everyone. It was a "hug your mail woman" kind of day. ;)

That knife is incredible with beautiful grain on your scales!

It was a good question rye, I went through many of my shadow pattern knives and on almost all of them, the pivot favors the blade side of the handle as Barry explained...including my customs.

I thought nit picking was as much a part of it as coon fingering and chicken eyeing:D
Maybe I was wrong?...... naaah.
If theres nits to pick I say lets get pickin'.
