2015 Forum Knife - It's Never Too Early To Think About the Next Blade Forum Knife

I like Micarta too but it's probably the least popular option available here. I wouldn't mind trying acrylic but I don't think we'd ever reach a consensus on what type (just too many variations).

I´d like to see an acrylic handle material. It hasn´t been on a Blade Forums Knife yet.
What about Dead Skunk Acrylic? It has its appeal, at least to me.

On the pattern itself, I will take whatever is chosen by the majority. As well as on the knife pattern ;)

Whatever will come out, it will be a great knife with an outstanding F&F and great workmanship. A proud knife for this great community.

I would much rather see micarta with nice pattern than acrylic. I'm leery of acrylics because in most cases they look cheap to me. If the pattern moved under light like a curly Koa/maple/etc, I would be more inclined to like it, but I have hesitations. Although my looking glass abalone and Black Lip MOP GEC's have held up well to use.

I was the same but i had probably been thinking of celluloid covers, the acrylic on my Talon Lava was just fine, i do not know about micarta not having handled any although i have a spearpoint talon in green micarta inbound so when it gets to me i will be able to make an opinion.

I have a micarta handled and an acrylic handled knife, both made by GEC. IMO (!!) the acrylic feels ways more classic than micarta does. It might be polished, and not being that rough than on modern outdoor blades, but there is just something in Delrin and Acryl that makes it more classic (i.e. Traditional). I prefer micarta as a great handle material. But on a BFC knife I would prefer celluliod or acrylic handles. It might gas out but it makes it more traditional than micarta.

I throw in my 2 cents even though I'm new around here..

The Beerlow thread has me all sorts of wanting a caplifter. I'm really wanting to EDC a sheepsfoot to see what I think. I'm thinking Ebony..

From the BF long term forum knife collector perspective...

I read about if there would be interest in a smaller knife like the coffin jack. I don't know... I personally like larger knives but the coffin jack has been on my radar for a while now. I feel like after looking at the picture on the first page, a small knife might just be what it needs in 2015.

Call me weird, but I would like to see an ultra traditional pattern for the 10th forum knife. Think Trapper, Stockman, Peanut, Barlow, Whittler.
That includes ultra traditional blade profile(s). Clip/Spear main w/Pen/Spey 2nd.
You know, a knife, not a multi-tool.
Nothing wrong with multi-tools, but if we want cap lifters and such lets just get a nice Victorinox and have a cool logo printed on it. I'd buy at least one.
If we have to have another straight edge blade (Coping is my favorite) I hope we keep it a secondary blade. In 2013 the very vocal minority got their Sheepsfoot main blade, which was cool but not that popular. If you like that kind of thing, I think you can still buy one from Spark. I am sure he would appreciate it.
I'm just saying for the 10th edition maybe we should stick with a broad appeal approach?

I would like to see a full sized (4"-4.5") Trapper or Stockman with the standard Clip/Spey, Clip/Spey/Sheepsfoot arrangement. Doesn't get much more traditional than that.

If spark indeed has leftover 2013 bf knives, then why are so many people looking for them elsewhere? I know I would buy one if it were available.

Did you not see my previous post? As of November, there were still about 20 left:

Looks like I have around 30 or so (2013) left. Since the preorder time is over, the new price is $140 shipped.

I was made aware of it after I posted. I also tried to contact spark to confirm. When I get a response I'll get one. Definitely not just sending funds and crossing my fingers.

What if someone else gets the last one Todd? Role the dice, Spark will refund if he is out.

You would have better luck calling spark's shop to see if any were still avavilable. Every time I have called I have spoken to the man himself.
