2015 KITH - Official Thread

I'm in. I'll make a knife by December 1st. I have been making knives for three years, but I'm new here.

Such a cool idea! I won't have anything ready to go this year but I look forward to the 2016 KITH

Technical question. If I am making a kitchen knife for the KITH, what kind of "sheath or case" is required if any?

My first KITH, I did a cutting board to go with a santoku I submitted. I used the same material as the handle and it looked great.

Mine is 95% finished, just some work on the buffer and make the sheath.

I like the edge guard/blade guard available from kitchen stores or online.

A cardboard or wooden cover will also do for shipping. The best way to ship a knife is to wrap in cardboard and tape to a piece of wood.

Stacy,

I really hate to say it but I think I'm out this year. I'm getting crushed at work and I can't seem to find a way to get the knife done in time. It is coming out beautifully but just too slowly to make the deadline.

No problem.
If it gets done in time, post in the I'm ready thread. If no, no harm.

Hope you can get it done, but there is always next year.

Thats what I was going to say, Im in the same boat but I'll go right up to the end.

Am I alone in wanting to see teasers? Lol I hope to get the scales on mine tomorrow and then start the sheath next week.

The "I'm Ready" thread will have the photos. If someone wants to post in progress shots, this thread will be fine, but the surprise of the KITH is part of the excitement.

I'm almost done the blade. It's straight, flat, and sanded to 220g. I should have no problem getting it finished in time for the first. :)
