Hi friends,
As I have done for the past NINE years I offer a thread of the knives I was privileged to capture, and offer a hearty debt of gratitude to those makers who chose to swing by our far end of the Blade Show hall.
It takes a village: My wife Susan and three-year worker Maggie Randall helped with write ups and more, and I actually wrangled my son Trevor to join us as a 'runner'. (Four days away from school with extra work projects and homework completed, allowed Susan and I to take him.)
My first salute goes out to my SharpByCoop team: They kept us going and understood what we needed to do.
For me I have said to anyone who asks: It's the hardest working four days of my year. Probably because I am solely responsible for all the lighting, backgrounds, shooting and setups for each image. It's mentally challenging on its own, and add in the pressure of time constraints, and it's beyond what I can describe. This said, I take the task of giving each knife a bit of 'character' and 'personality' through a compositional layout and choice of background. What you will see is a variety of formats.
I am a little behind: I caught a stomach virus upon returning and I was truly sick for three days. Regardless, I have done as much as I can. I'll be working through the next week on edits, communication, printing and mailers.
I will keep this first post alive with some comments to fill in at a later date.
Right now I have just enough energy to show off some of the finest knives--as you will see!
