2016 Blade Show • World Class Knives!

Always impressive, veteran maker Charles Gedraitis knows what appeals.

Integral folder maker Michael Raymond is meticulous in his finishes and builds. I was MOST impressed with this new model.

orig.jpg

Not a folder, but the materials and artistry on Daniel Stephan's (pronounced: Steff-ahnn) are spectacular.

orig.jpg

Did you folks spot quiet Daisy Zeng and her husband Tin in your travels? She found me and calmly pulls out THIS folder she'd picked up. (If you have to ask why.....) Juergen Steinau #luxury

orig.jpg

Gary Root is old school tech (no email) and old school artist. Good stuff.

orig.jpg

Keith Ouye is using a new steel and has a few patterns he's applied it to. See the burgundy carbon fiber?

orig.jpg

Shiver me timbers! (I'm corny but this folder isn't!) Don Hanson with some aged bog oak.

orig.jpg

Rodrigo Sfreddo with an ironwood and nighttime lake swamp theme.

orig.jpg

Note the firefly!

orig.jpg

Russell Roosevelt is a JS. You think he's practicing? YOU BETCHA!

orig.jpg

Adam DesRosiers with a comfy little utility. I think he just made this at Dave Lisch's shop?

orig.jpg

Go BIG or go home. Facundo Montenegro (Argentina) brings it on with his hunting sword!

orig.jpg

How sweet it is! Tad Lynch closes this post with some real goodness.

David Lisch is everyone's favorite. What an eye for style, what an arm for steel.

orig.jpg

He brought me this set to be photographed individually. I thought they needed to be shown as a SET! Let's do it!

orig.jpg

Look closely how he tucks in that tail. Little things make it so sweet.

There are more coming. Not done editing yet. Tomorrow!

Thanks for viewing and your appreciations.

thanks for all the great photos Jim so many wonderful knives at the show that most of us doing the show do not see until now very cool. thanks again

Thanks Coop. I like leverlocks, so that Juergen Steinau knife is quite a pleasant surprise. Don't see many modern interpretations of leverlocks. Did you get to fire it a few times?

Brownshoe: That gem had more to it than I was willing to discover. It's called a 'credit card' knife, because the little tab has two spring values. As it came to me, it only popped out a half inch (A gentleman's or 'California' auto it's been nicknamed).

In the back of the well was a little bar, and I am told if you depress that with a 'credit card' it releases the holding gate for the full spring...

SCHWINNNGG!

At a value of OVER $20k I wasn't going to risk any failures in my hands.

Thank you!

Coop

Thanks for the details, if it was mine I'd let you have a go at it :)

Great stuff as always Coop. Know that your hard work is definitely appreciated! Seeing blade through the forum would not be the same without your excellent photos.

Hopefully this will be the last year I experience it through the internet.

THanks guys.

Yesterday I finsihed editing all of the images, sent out proofs, and SUsan and I worked as a team with a myriad of mailers going to 10 countries. No lie.

Sorting and organizing the requisite yet confusing 'how many prints and where do they all go' dilemma is our challenge. :)

Later this morning I"ll post the final images. There are still a bunch unseen.

Hanson is holding court by showing in his own threads. As they should. ;)

Later.

Jim, thanks for posting all the wonderful pictures. It always brings a smile to my face when I have the opportunity to see all the wonderful knifes, especially those I don't get to see in person.

Before I close my Blade Show thread, I'll post a few of the knives which I shot at Blade and just before, for Doug Ritter and the Knife Rights organization.

He holds a yearly fundraiser to support OUR causes. VERY generous makers have crafted/built and submitted knives as a donation to the drawing. I've photographed these and more for the benefit.

Here's some of the knives being offered for auction and the images I've just done:

(I had to work that hamon with a dark mask to show it. So subtle.)

David Kulis builds a stout and attractive folder.

Joe Paranee brought back the 2015 'Musso Bowie' which won OUR year-end Best Bowie contest. It was good to make Sam Lurquin smile about this winner!

BF favorite, Don Hanson III, MS closes out the thread with a cache of his World-Class knives.

This one has every quality you would imagine ONLY DH3 could deliver. We'll be reviewing this one again in December. ;)

I am pleased if you are reading this because it's exactly what I promise MY clients: Your knives will get seen and appreciated.

I thank you for following this thread. I'll post all on a Facebook album, and some on Instagram. Later tonight I'll also have a full gallery to view on my website.

Susan, Trevor, Maggie and myself thank the makers, collectors, and the viewers.

Till next year!

I sure glad that you are there to capture all those amazing pieces of art. Really appreciate your sharing of your hard work.

Some overwhelmingly impressive work (knives and photos)! I especially love the luxurious Steinau, clip-point Hanson, and the first Tesarik folders. Amazing.
