If I missed your knife, PLEASE send me a PM. I'll include it.

Thanks for this opportunity to show these makers' fine work!

Wow - Coop - AWESOME!

Last call for entries gents - get 'em in now and we'll move to the selection of finalists later today. Always my favourite part of the process!

Like every year, enjoying this great thread!!
We can already see impressive Bowies, I love to see them all together!!
Thanks Roger and Peter for postulating two of ours!
Claudio

I'm really curious to know which one, out of all the bowies you've made this year, is your personal favorite, Claudio!? :)

So happy to see this thread up again, eye candy for hours. I won't submit any new entries, but there are already a couple here that I know I'll be voting for.

Hello friend, my favorite bowie is the post # 52 that I showed Greg. It was the knife so far that I liked most of all that I did, the 8-bar Turkish damask with 13" blade towards very beautiful reflections.
I came to love that knife

My favorite time of the year, always so excited!:D

So many great bowies this year! I'll toss a couple of mine into the mix from earlier this year. Happy new year to all!

Okay gang, with that most excellent final entries we are now closed to additional entries - let the selection of finalists begin!

Once again, a BIG THANK YOU for all the nominations. And a special thanks to those makers who posted up their work – it's great to see so many participating. You should all be proud of your work. Without you, we'd have nothing to talk about here.

This is a spectacular assembly of knives by any measure – and no doubt the decisions will be tough. Each year, this thread is what you make it - and once again, you all have made it pretty great.

The fun continues with what usually proves to be the hardest and most interesting part - narrowing it down to five finalists. The procedure will be the same as before:

1) Each member may submit up to 7 suggested finalists. You don't have to submit as many as 7, but don't submit any more than 7. Please take your time to carefully review all the knives.

2) Please include the post number where your selected knife can be found, and the number of the knife within that post if more than one knife is presented therein - this will help clear up any uncertainty in the case where there are multiple knives by a given maker among the initial entries. For example - a say post number 30 has 4 knives. You want the third. Put "Post 30, #3". AND DON'T FORGET TO INCLUDE THE NAME OF THE MAKER!

3) Your order or selection doesn't matter - one vote per knife up to seven, each vote counts.

4) Please try to include a few words about what appeals to you about any given selection. THIS is what makes the selection process most interesting.

5) When all votes are in, we add up the numbers (each time a knife is put forward by someone as a finalist, that effectively counts as one vote for that knife) and the top 5 will be voted on by polll in a new thread.

PS - If anything is unclear, please ask early.

I'll post up 2 of my selections just to get the ball rolling and then round them out. The quality of the field of entries this year is truly unreal - and I am having a tough time. At least 20 pieces I'd really love to nominate. Heck, I can't even figure out my fave Lurquin and CAS!

Post 1, # 1 - Mike Quesenberry Integral Dogbone Bowie

Tough to really get a Dogbone right - and that much tougher to conceive, attempt and execute it as integral. Outstanding works.

Post 1 #4 - Wess Barnhill Southwest Bowie

I've got more than pics to go by on this one. Took the knife out again to look at it closely and yep, it's as damned near perfect as I remembered and as the pictures suggest. This type of excruciatingly clean work is not thick on the ground. Lovely design that says "bowie" without the need for a label.

Post 10, # 1 - Don Hanson III W2 Slim Fighter

So elegant, so perfect, so Hanson. Love at first sight for me with this one.

Post 14, #1 - Will Morrison Cutlass Bowie

This would look soooo good in my collection. First saw it posted on Facebook and it immediately struck me as one of my favourites of the year. It still does. Wonderfully dramatic sweep to the blade and an absolutely killer hamon.

Post 52, #1 - CAS Multi Bar Bowie

I pretty much love all the CAS knives shown here, so like Peter I will defer to the makers' fave and give the nod to this one. Plus, 8 bar Turkish twist is pretty insane.

Post 60, # 4 - Larry Fuegen

If there's a guy who can walk into a room filled with the titans of knife making and drop the mic, it's Larry Fuegen. A tour-de-force gentleman's bowie here. Pick your superlative - fit for a king / museum quality / heirloom piece - they all apply yet somehow fall short of the knife itself.

Post 72 # 1 - Sam Lurquin Maxuimus Bowie

Does anyone pack more drama into a wood handled carbon steel bowie? I love the aggressive lines of the Maximus that play as well with plain carbon, vivid hamon or dazzling damascus.

This is going to take some serious time and consideration.

I will absolutely use all 7 nominations. Thanks to Roger P, as always, for the thread of the year.

As Roger points out, there are several Makers with multiple knives. Claudio CAS was asked which was his favorite and I would pose the identical question to the Makers in this same situation. I realize we are ultimately voting for OUR favorite Bowie, but I would love to hear from these the Makers.

My list order will be Alphabetical, in order to confuse the tabulators. :)

POST 57, #1: Ben Breda, Rings every bell and whistle with me. Temper line is absolutely killer.

POST 52, #1: Claudio-CAS, They are all sensational, but I will go with his judgement. Seriously, just throw a dart to choose.

POST 10, #1: Don Hanson III, The flow, the flow, the flow... Amazing as usual.

POST 61, #3: David Lisch, Just gets better and better... He must be making that Sambar Stag in his basement.

POST 25, #1: Sam Lurquin, Almost came down to a coin toss, but this one really speaks "Bowie" fluently to me.

POST 59, #2: Mike Quesenberry, I resisted that magnificent Dogbone, not my thing, but Quesenberry rules, so I am down with his Black Tie Bowie.

POST 50, #1: Ben Seward/Ben Breda, Rings all bells and all whistles everywhere. If you need my mailing address....

Very Honorable Mentions
Russ Andrews, Bruce Bump, Lin Rhea, Tad Lynch, Larry Fuegen, Wess Barnwell, i4Marc Aldrich, Robert Burns
