Thanks for the compliment Jay! I'm sorry I forgot to include a note about the knife, and mention my forum name. It dawned on me that I should have when I opened my knife from Mr. Fish30114, and saw the note he had done for me.http://s1320.photobucket.com/user/jwgriesser/media/IMG_20170914_194211_zps0rvqhvrc.jpg.html?o=0
Thanks for this nice kitchen knife. Mr. Herrmann did a great job!
I am sorry I didn't know your first name. Again, this was a quality job which will help me push my knife making to a new level. The Saya is a very nice design with contrasting wood which adds to your design. Thanks for the compliment Jay! I'm sorry I forgot to include a note about the knife, and mention my forum name. Thank you Sir! The saya was a bit of a happy coincidence. The only wood I had on hand that was thin enough for the saya was some rough cut yellow maple that seemed to have very boring straight grain, but as I sanded it, a very light figuring started to come out. The walnut was the only wood I had in the right thickness for the spacer, so I used it, but it kinda looked purdy sandwiched with the maple.I am sorry I didn't know your first name. Well, my German Shepherd starting barking like mad like he does when someone drops a package off and I went to the door to discover a pretty large package that I had no idea what it could be. It was kind of light but pretty big, and it had a thick plastic liner of some sort, and then a scotch whiskey bottle box inside of that! Once I got all that peeled away it was very nice cordura case with a very handsome kitchen knife in it from Willie aka Warren our host of this KITH. In addition to the stroke I had a got a new computer-a Mac-and it is giving me pains--I cant get a picture from my iPhone uploaded to it to Blade Forums-so folks and especially Warren I apologize for the lack of pics, but I'm working on it, and I'm even considering selling this Mac, and getting another DOS based machine, since I know how to use them, although I have to say I like the fact the this Mac has been virus free-totally--but to the point this knife is fantastic Willie--it has a nice slim handle, and the blade is wickedly sharp!! Probably the sharpest blade I have ever encountered, and I have purchased over 300 knives in my days...it has what I would guess without going back and looking at what he said he built, an Ebony bolster on the handle, and perhaps a mahogany handle main? Either way it is very nicely finished and my bride is as impressed as I am-I am planning on a PM to Warren to ask some details on this build and some advice but his thing is a great pleasure to own--my wife scolded me on the case though-she said it's to big to put in the knife drawer and I would have to build a Saya for it--which I gladly will.
Thanks so much Willie!!

Let me know how it works out. I have been thinking about simplifying my handle shapes and slimming them down. I have pretty big mitts, so I need to remember not everyone else does. I hope it serves you well. Thanks again for running the KITH.Well, I was pleasantly surprised to receive a great knife from Kevin McGovern. It’s aeb-l, nicely finished, and an ipe handle with white g-10 liners. The edge is well refined, and the knife cut well right out of the package.

The saya is nicely finished. Overall the package works well together. This is a great addition to our kitchen. The handle feels a bit big to me, but my wife is trying it out as she likes larger handles.
The ipe appears to have shrunk slightly, leaving the spine and pins slightly proud. I’ll leave it acclimate for a couple weeks and see if I need to adjust.
Thank you Kevin for the great knife.
This concludes the kitchen kith for 2017. Thank you all for participating. It’s been a lot of fun.

You’re quite right. I’m still waiting for it to arrive here in the norselands.I’m not sure if Currenthill received his knife yet. Maybe we’re not quite done.
