skblades skblades - is this type of jigging possible from Buck or is this just a lost art in this day of automation? Although I have been an advocate for wood if either one of these examples from Robeson or Crucible Knife Co. are possible I would definitely choose this hands down. As someone said earlier the new automated jigging is nice but it just doesn't have the soul that the old stuff does.View attachment 910267 View attachment 910268
I checked on this today, we are fine getting the jigged bone done by hand if you are willing to part with a few minor organs. :) Otherwise, it would be machined.

I assume there are multiple types of machined jigging... is there a certain jig that would be standard for Buck's jigged bone, or is that another selection down the road if bone even makes it that far?

We'll have to explore that. It will have to be something we choose later though either way because jigged bone can be many colors.

Sooooo. Now that this is down to the wire, does anyone want to remove their second vote and/or just pack their favorite of the only three that have a possibility of winning. Why does Sheen come to mind every time I hear "winning"? :D Anywaaay... Even Ram has a chance with some outlier movement.

THAT is a beautiful handle!! I have a vintage straight razor (circa 1940s) with ram horn handles. Ram horn has the fantastic property of getting more grippy when wet! Makes an excellent handle for skinning (thought I'm not a hunter myself).

I'm not sure how people think elk or stag looks good. Brown and white reminds me too much of many bathroom scenarios. At least rams horn has some pearlescent and translucent qualities to it, along with some rather beautiful coloring. And jigged bone is the G10 of the traditional pocket knife world. Be unique.

This makes what was a tough decision a lot easier for me. With Elk and machine jigged bone both in the same price category ($$), I'm moving my second vote to ram horn. Elk and Ram horn.

Would it look something like this?

My votes are Elk and Ram ... not necessarily in that order ...

Hmm ... that looks just like one of my 371's
My 373 and 389's have wood covers. :)
Yes, it's from the same import line. I have a few, and they are nice knives for the price, but not the most inspired jigging to the bone. Does anyone have an example of machined jigged bone on a USA model? (it may have already been posted, but I can't seem to find it, if so.)

Changed my vote to ram horn. May switch back to bone if somebody posts a more inspiring picture of Buck jigging from their custom shop!

Elk and jigged bone are 1 vote apart (at the moment)! Folks who want horn/antler of some sort, now might be the time to consider moving a vote to elk if you prefer "any kind of horn/antler" to bone. :)

And folks who want bone, now might be the time to consider moving a vote from camel bone and giraffe bone to jigged bone. :):)

Think about the Battle Royale.

Jigged bone got almost no support in the initial poll. It will almost certainly lose against wood or micarta.

However, I think Elk can take it all!

Thank you for checking on that for us. I do have one child that I would let go of if they're up for consideration !!!!:D Can Buck give us anything close to that? Possibly an example!
