2018 Buck 110 Bucklite

It's just another variation, either love it or hate it. We are lucky there are so many different 110s available.
People could complain about the plastic but really shouldn't. How many brass, Nickel and aluminum versions are available. This will be a cool knife to have. Lightweight, pattern on scale looks well done. I would imagine it will be riveted but who knows. Cool stuff Buck.

The market is surely big enough to have both a standard, heavy weight Buck 110 Folding Hunter and a lightweight Buck 110 "Bucklite" available. If one or the other doesn't sell well or make money for the company it will disappear. I'm sure I will buy one of the new ones just to own - hope it comes in a blaze orange camo! ;) OH

that would be cool, all of the camo colors would work.

Nice touch with the lanyard hole. I like it but the 110 that really needs a lanyard should be the fixed blade version (101).

sometimes im perplexed by bucks choices. so have to ask....

who here wouldnt buy a screwed assembled knife that they could eliminate blade play for the life of the knife? even if it cost a bit more?

If it cost more then I personally wouldn't, I don't put folders through hard use or use them in a way that creates side to side play. I also have had experience with screws Getting loose, and prefer rivets that in my experience don't really loosen up on me. The only one that loosened up was my childhood 425 because I abused it.
It's not something I personally need but im sure many people do and would pay for it.

Not on a resin knife it doesn't matter to me about being riveted or screw together blade pivot.

fair points. i guess if many buying bucks dont want screwed, i can see why buck seems to avoid moving in this direction.

Just keeps the price down on resin knives. They compete with Chinese options in the under 30 range. Which they have a lot of knives under 30.00

If it’s a flipper where I might need to tune it to my liking, I’ll want screws. I don’t recall that I’ve come across a situation with a lock back where I said “man, I wish this had screws”. Except perhaps while looking for a 186.

I am just old school in some things. I bought 4 model 444s (2004) because they were light, had drop point blades and a lanyard hole. I haven't lost one yet or sharpened it down. Don't cut much whit leather so still tight. So, guess I am set for future. Now I would like a thumb stud. Hey, it sounds like a Bantam. I just like the looks of the old discontinued 444 so the newbies aren't turning my head. May have to see about that one 'lite' one. 300

My 444 is a 1997 model and still in perfect shape. Gutted out a couple deer and loaned to a friend to use gutting one out.

I used to carry it for a spare. It became the spare that did most of the work.

It can do anything and it couldn't carry easier.

Is that just a reflection in the pic, or do I see a metallic liner through the lanyard hole?? Just wondering. Would make the mounting of a clip more secure.

Come on, Buck. Spend the extra $1, and have a clip available for the thing!! As mentioned, a screw pivot and screw construction would have been nice. You could mix/match scales and blades. It would be a real "modular" knife that the USER could customize, rather than just a "cheap" 110. Oh well....

Screws come loose and/or get lost. Pocket clips catch on stuff and scratch furniture and upholstery. Give me a well made, riveted knife and let me drop it into the pocket of my jeans and I'm a happy curmudgeon.

If you wanted to put a screw in the pivot of a plastic handle, you would have to put a Helicoil or T-nut on one side. If you wanted to put a pocket clip on a plastic handle, you would need to anchor the screws in Helicoils. A blade clamping thumbstud is a cheap easy addition.

Whoah, tiguy7, could you share the size and type of screws used in those pics? Is there a separate thread about this somewhere? I'm really interested in converting a ranger over to screws like you've done there.
