Boring! Been there done that! I wanna see some character just no black blobs with silver attached to it

Let's do something different than Black Wood with silver hard wear....
My main objection to Ironwood is the brushed finished we'll be forced to have on the bolsters and shield. That just seems wrong on a Northfield.

I'll play with this knife a lot, but it will be a collector piece so I will want to keep it original and not polish anything.

Boy, what a zealous advocate you are! Well that black & silver looks mighty good to me and many others. No way everyone is going to be happy, but this is kind of a fun process.

I was on ironwood and switched to kingwood yesterday. It's so hard to choose between ironwood and AB. Part of me wants to take a chance on ironwood and part of me looks in my knife drawer and sees all black wood handles. The little devil on my shoulder is saying go for the AB, you know you will love it. Pair it with the bomb shield and boy is that something special!

It's hard to fight this, goodbye Che Chen
This really shows me something. I love GEC's ebony (blackwood, whatever. To the untrained eye, they look the same aside from blackwood's denser grain) so I have wondered why I am against it for this knife. And I've finally figured it out. I think ebony (Blackwood) looks FAR better on a knife with an end cap\two bolsters than it does on a bareheaded knife. I just don't think it is that stunning at all without being boxed in by two pieces of nickel silver. If this weren't a barehead (which I prefer bareheaded jacks) I would vote for ebony in a heartbeat.

That said, I'm not sold on ironwood either. My vote will remain with bloodwood for the time being.

Stare into the iron wood eye.
Taylor's ironwood is what you dream of when you cast your vote for ironwood. But it is an illusion. When you receive your new ironwood knife it will not look like Taylor's beautiful young sexy siren. No my friends. You will carefully unwrap and then sit and stare in disbelief at the tired used-up old hag that reality has sent you. It will be so sad and so very too late... :(

I like it with an end cap but I also like how light they are without them. Most of mine are end capped because that's the majority of GEC patterns that interest me.

But this guy right here is about my all time favorite GEC and EDC. I couldnt imagine it with a cap and for a single blade knife no end cap makes sense to me.

Don't get me wrong, that is a handsome knife. It just doesn't have that "pop" I was hoping this forum knife would have.

I totally get it. What makes it so fun, we all have our own little nuances that make a knife special. No matter the outcome, this knife will be fantastic and we will all go about sharing pics and knowledge long after these threads sink into the abyss :)

My Friends : Dwight is correct . You may not open up your possible Ironwood like this at all .

But then you could .
You could on the other hand open up your possible Blackwood and see 2 tone Black . That truly is beautiful sight to behold .
Either way we are going to get a FINE KNIFE that will ultimately be a rare one indeed by the time most of you get to be my age . Enjoy the ride my friends .
