On the other hand...

Black is sophisticated, suave, the embodiment of class, mystery, and soul wrenching depths.

There is nothing "ordinary" about black clad knives. 'Tis the unchanging embodiment of dependability, class, and elegance.

Clem Ironwood, Pig Farmer (2)

Dammit Mabel, those darn black slab pigs come through the fence again
Walk all around and crappin on the ground! My poor Ironwood pigs!
Now some porch guy says those black pigs are sophisticated, having class
Yes, with soul wrenching depths, it all gripes my ass

They’re chasing my Ironwood sows for nefarious ends
That and their smell make me not know where to begin or to end
My Ironwood pigs, they are so attractive, so clean, so neat its really a factor
They embody soul wrenching depths so far as I see they don’t crap indiscriminently

Some guys on the porch they love their derned black pigs stinky and all
I want my beautiful Ironwood pigs be adopted by all
Mabel, Mabel what should I do?
Call Sheriff Makepeace arrest those black slabs!

Put lipstick on those stinky Ironwood Pigs, they’re still stinky Ironwood Pigs, even uglier.

Nice knives but it reminds me of back in 1955 our High School class voted for our Class Colors to be 2 Toned Black . :):p:D:thumbsdown:

I just want to make sure everyone understands that if you vote ironwood you are also voting for brushed bolsters and shield and if you vote for the Blackwood the bolsters and shield will be polished. In my opinion the brushed bolsters are not very attractive and also mar very easily, I only have one knife with brushed bolsters and pretty much don't want another but to each their own.

Augie Augie I'm not keen on matte fittings either, they're lacklustre and just look unfinished or even tarnished  They actually suit Black Wood a lot more :D

All those pictures of pristine polished Black knives ....does patina actually suit Black handles more? No, not really, in my experience IvoryBone, Stag, lighter colour woods show off patina far better.

So, that's WHY Bloodwood is a much better option as it is lighter colour and has polished fittings:cool: Those wanting polished fittings and interesting non black wood need to concentrate their minds over the next 3 days, effectively:D

I think everyone understands. I agree that polished looks better. I wanted a polished blade too! Go, BLACK!

Jobillo is brushed only as well per first post in this topic, as is osage. Kingwood up on the poll list is polished, which is why I've voted for bloodwood. The brushed finishes have been big disappointments each time I've received and I'd probably try to polish off in future.

I am bit curious why Ironwood has to come paired with brushed bolsters and shield. All of the GEC Ironwood knives I have are polished.

Regardless, the brushed finish is not one that I have any interest in. It suits Micarta very well, in my opinion, but it does most woods (if not all) a large disservice.

I understand that it is reasonably easy to polish them up. However, there are those who like to tinker with their knives and those who do not (aside from sharpening, of course). I am of the latter mindset.
