2020 #35 Churchill Thread

I get a little apprehensive talking about SFOs around here :) But what I know thus far is there is a single blade, smooth yellow bone SFO for the maker who often uses old battleship wood. And there is a two-blade version (Spear and pen) for a non-GEC branded version that most everyone has heard about at this point. I don't know anything about the NW version or what GEC has in store for their own releases.

The spear blade that I am hearing is for NW based on a photo...not saying they aren't doing a NW but the photo label clearly states it is for the bar tool.

I do see the USA on one of these but can't make out the other stamp shown here.

What Darren just posted is a NW blade, the two blades nick-facing at the bottom left of the image, you can make out the shape of the "Northwoods" stamp.
You are right I can see it now. I am really surprised no one caught that when they posted the photo! :)

I don't think there should be anything wrong with talking about SFOs as long as we are talking about the knives themselves and not the buying/selling aspect of the process. For instance, we would be talking about a SMKW SFO after the fact, despite them not being a supporting dealer.

I think M&G is a different animal. They only sell the knives they have produced through GEC or Queen (in the past) and they are pretty intentional about recreating some historical knives - how can we NOT talk about them?! It's similar to discussing Charlie's SFOs (though, to be fair, he does have a dealer membership here...).

I just find it unnecessarily restrictive to not be allowed to talk about the individual SFOs. As long as we aren't discussing how to buy one, why can we not discuss the merits of the SFO itself? I wouldn't mind if a mod would chime in on this if they were so inclined. Maybe they have and I have simply missed it.

I agree Dylan and I don't want to be restricted talking about SFOs but I know it is somewhat of a grey area so I tend to leave it alone for the most part...unless they are on the supporting dealers list.

Na, I've said this about three different times now. The 35 is that same pattern as the queen #99 pattern. Derick was quoted as saying that the Indian River Jack was the one he recommended to clients that were up in the air. It was inevitable with Queen going away that an Indian River would be made on this 35 pattern.

They are not the same size I believe.

Is this the picture that the upcoming M&G 35 version will be based on? If so, then I hope it has the deep rat tail bolsters.

I drool every time I see pictures posted of the Yellow Rose knives of any pattern. I hope I can snag a 35 before they all disappear

As I sometimes do, I may have jumped the gun a bit on the 35 run. Outside of the M&G, Lonestar and NW SFOs in the 35 pattern...the bar tool is it. The 74's are next.

Please disregard this thread and refer to THIS ONE instead

How do you know?
