Were there only a few dealers who go the bocote versions? I haven't seen notifications for them being in stock at the usual dealers I use.

NWKC had them yesterday. I believe I got the last one as they no longer appear on the site.

I think I got the last one from CK. There's a traditional dealer on Instagram that has them but didn't put them up for sale just yet. He posted a short video clip a few days ago.

Mine came in in this afternoon's mail. The spey blade is marked with an S after the pattern number. The only fault I can see is just a bit of rough cover near the rear pin and a slight gouge - certainly no crack or anything to complain about. Another great #73. Thanks to knifeswapper knifeswapper for making it available to me.

These blades are so thin, and are great slicers. They can make thicker blades feel like splitting mauls by comparison. Probably not the strongest, but great for food prep.

Got mine today. Everything about it is a level sharper and more precise than any other GEC I own. All the edges are cleaner and more refined. Its hard to capture in the photos but these may show it.

Yeah, when Mike gave the factory effort for this run an 8, I wondered what ugly duck lemon he'd gotten from the batch, because mine outclasses the 81 he classified a 9, on multiple levels. Not that the 81 is bad! But this is better.

They say that good things come to those who wait. Sometimes I believe, sometimes not - proved to be the case this go around though.

This is a really, really good effort by GEC. Their retooling has produced a superb run of knives, correcting all the issues with past runs of this pattern and configuration (i.e. blade rap, impossibly heavy pulls). Thinly ground blades, excellent actions, and a pretty perfect 6.5-7 on the pulls. They knocked these babies out of the park and I am very pleased with them.
