2022 GEC #81 Coon Skinner

Can I get some side by side backspring shots from anyone that has them? I know they’re thin, I’m curious how thin comparatively. I love the 49 because it’s thin, I always like my thin stag 68. They just seem to get in pocket more.

It’s a big mod with muskrats. A lot of guys do a Ratcliffe mod on Case muskrats. It was popularized by Lansky1 on AAPK.
Well that was a rabbit hole...

I just got my #81 in coffee house acrylic today. It makes a great apple slicer. I haven't done much else with it yet, but I assume it'll open letters just fine and maybe whittle some pencils.

Acrylic ordered here. It's been a while since I got in on the CollectorKnives reserve. Seems I don't check my email often enough, missed the "not so snakey" snakewood. Excited none the less, thanks knifeswapper knifeswapper !

What do you mean?
The "not so snakey" mentioned in a previous post.

Basically the snakewood models were divided by the factory into those with interesting wood and those with more boring wood. Those left at the time of ordering were the more boring wood, described by the seller as not so snakey.

I am a big fan of the moose pattern so the coon skinner is a great choice for me. 2 muskrat clip blades will be just fine imho. my plan is to send it out for a worm groove recover and that will dress it up to perfection

Does anyone have a link to the factory statement on the two "different" woods?.... Is this a similar deal to the 86 "Well Done; Medium Rare" segregation that took place recently?..

Yes, I believe it to be similar to the 86 segregation.
No, I have not seen anything from GEC. Just information from a dealer indicating "deluxe " snakewood and "standard" snakewood. The pricing was different unlike the 86 run. The deluxe coming in at what you would expect based on the Texas Rose price and the Standard coming in at Tidioute prices.
My experience has been with only one dealer.

Thanks Jim..... I have a "Standard" inbound but never saw anything mentioned by Titusville..... In addition to the segregation of the 86's, we recently had the kerfluffle on the 49/94 acrylic quality, or lack thereof.....
I guess it is another subspecies of a frame to collect😊👍

No problem, I also have the standard inbound. I didn't feel the need for the deluxe for a knife the will most certainly end up in my pocket.

I've been carrying the coffee house quite a bit and been enjoying the heck out of it.

The knives have a really nice feel in the hand.... For a person that uses that type of blade frequently, it is an ideal frame... You can start the day with two sharp blades and in the evening touch them up for the next day..... It is like carrying two knives with only the burden of one....

I ordered a standard, "not so snakey" yesterday as well. Looking forward to it. I've been carrying the coffee house acryllic quite a bit and will likely do the same with the snakewood. I generally don't carry knives that are 4" or longer, but these are so nice and thin they still disappear in the pocket.
