People wanted a Sowbelly
People wanted a Lambsfoot
Why not put them both together and kill two birds with one stone.![]()
And we don't think he listens to us.Hence why I wouldn't be surprised if this was a bit of whimsy on Bill's part.
I also worked on the kick on mine, but have gotten to the point of changing the top edge of the sheepfoot blade to be more ergonomic.... I've done all my sowbellies this way, and it makes a huge difference in "handling".... here are before and after pics on my yeller one... sorry that the "after" pic is so dark....I am on the fence about this one. I'm not questioning whether I want one (because I certainly do) but questioning whether I would prefer a sowbelly stockman instead. My ideal slipjoint is the stockman because I like having 3 blades that can be kept sharp and rotated for different tasks without being too bulky. However, my only experience with a sowbelly stockman is a Case version in amber bone which I found unpleasant to use due to the proud sheepsfoot blade. I tried grinding down the kick on the sheepsfoot and lowered it barely enough to make it less uncomfortable in the hand, but not enough to satisfy me. GEC's CAD rendering with only the clip and lambsfoot looks like it won't suffer from the same issues.
I'm not sure where I am going with my thoughts above. I suppose my thoughts can be summed up best as: I am excited for GEC's foray into sowbellies and I hope they also release a stockman pattern so that we can compare a 2-blade version to a 3-blade version. I applaud Bill for coming into 2022 with a strong start.
That is clean work, nicely done! I thought about trying that with my Case but never followed through because I just quit carrying it (other than the proud blade I'm just not wild about tru-sharp stainless). I'll keep this in mind if a GEC stockman arrives with the same issue.I also worked on the kick on mine, but have gotten to the point of changing the top edge of the sheepfoot blade to be more ergonomic.... I am absolutely looking forward to this new pattern.... two blade, three blade, single.... I'll take one of each...
