2022 GEC H20 fixed blade

I think this might be an issue of YMMV.... I've owned probably 50 or so GEC's, and only one of them had/has anything near to what I'd call an "issue".
Every manufacturer will slip now and then, but from my experience only, GEC is better than most knife companies I've purchased from.
The sharpest knives I've ever bought were two of the Otter Messer anchor knives... they were literally razor sharp out of the box. But if I wanted to nit pick (I normally don't) their walk and talk was not the greatest... tough to open, etc....

I am not a GEC fan-boy by any means... I've owned more Case knives than GEC's, but I do recognize consistent superior quality when I see it.

I'm curious, what mainstream knife company do you consider "excellent" ?
Its not that the H20 wasn't razor sharp. It's that it couldn't even cut paper and the bevel is very wonky. I'm sorry, but when you can pick up a $20 Ozark Trial that doesn't have a wonky bevel there is no excuse for any GEC to have one and mine isn't the only one that does.

I don't consider any brand "excellent". I can say that with the all the post 2020 GEC knives I have had, having one or more of the following issues, blade rap, dye leaching out, cracked and chipped covers, pins that had been left rough enough to cut my hand, and off-center blades I would never call GEC "excellent". The ones I have had that were made before 2020 didn't have those issues.

I did receive one that had a "butter knife" edge, as well.... can't remember now if it was a Case or GEC..... I even took a video of me sliding my thumb back and forth on it with moderate pressure and no blood.... 😊
It took about 4 or 5 minutes to have it very usable....
I agree that their quality is perhaps not quite as high as it was pre-covid, but I think that's true in nearly every arena.... not just knives. I'm just not ready to write them off as "crappy" .... IMO, they are still the best knife company that we have.
