the real test will be engraving

Thank you. Although I just noticed my nasty fingerprints on the blades...
Unless you're so careful to only use the tip of your fingernail, it's gonna happen every time... o_O😆

Welcome and very nice set of 14’s!
Also it will happen every time…. And every time you will only notice after you post the photo!

For anyone that’s putting these little 14’s to work, are you noticing the patina is forming much faster than other knives? I cut the same things on a regular basis (mostly food or package opening) and this blade has developed this b-e-a-utiful patina in just a few days! Perhaps it’s just in my head but I’d like to see others’ if you started using them right away.

Note: Can’t see the fingerprints on this one anymore! :D

What's really cool is when a partial fingerprint shows up in the patina!

I haven't used one of these 14s, but I have noticed that some runs the patina develops faster or differently. I'd guess that has to do with inconsistency in the ingot-alloying process and possibly variances in heat treatment as well.

I didn’t intend to go for the trifecta, but I liked the two SFOs so much I figured why not. This one is also very well done, no flaws as far as I can tell I, and even has a slightly stronger pull. I’m officially a fan of the 14 pattern - especially the Barlows.

seems like a mixed bag so far, ive heard of some of the goldenrod sawcuts having a slightly stiffer pull than the SFOs but still not as heavy as the 2018s

Man I really like my bone version that came yesterday. Looks like they got someone to put a little more umph into the saw this time. Great grooves that were missing on my last sawcut examples. Had some gaps between the spring and liner that were easily worked out with some oil and cycling the blade for a minute or two.
