2022 Lick Creek Barlow #14 thread

Looks like GEC is still having problems producing consistent bolsters. The one on the top has a thinner "bottom edge" than the other. The recent blade forums 86 barlow and the 77 barlow release had the same problem.

I just saw this thread. "Post wood" ( wormy chestnut) handles with "history".

They're distressed and knowingly have worm holes and trails. This is not a lack of workmanship on GEC's part, but rather a feat of excellence preserving this great wood.

Another labor of love for me, thanks Bill Howard. I was principally and intimately involved in the initial boys knives, and that's the reason I was afforded this opportunity.

Sales through email by me , but most all are spoken for.
Those are beautiful! Dig the character of the “worm wood” 😍

Forgive my ignorance, but what email list informed you all about this Lyle SFO release?

Also who is Lyle? I am only about 1.5 years into GEC collecting and have not heard of him.

This is mostly who I am to BFs:

Unless it deviates from the drawing tolerances, it's not a problem........ General Electric locomotives have a +/- 1/4" overall length tolerance..... I'm not sure how a GEC knife is toleranced.....??

I've not had the pleasure of handling a 14 barlow as yet. Not for lack of trying, lol. I'd be like the member above, my head might spin if a lambfoot of any combo was produced.I do love single clips but a 2 blade 14 sounds amazing! I'll be scrambling for a TC or Liclk Creek in any bone.🤩😅

Man…. Fear of missing out can be a heck of a drug, lol. I had an ebony TC #14 but it didn’t get enough pocket time for me to justify keeping it around. Of course that didn’t stop me from rushing to put one of these into my cart when they dropped. I held off though. My willpower’s improving!

I'm actually relieved that I'm not going to be part of the lolliscramble for these SFOs. I've scored enough cocobolo recently that I need something different (not a brown colored wood) to get me interested. Wondering if the GEC versions of these 14s will pull me back in.

They make a great watch pocket knife or "second knife".
You can pair it with a big Trapper, Sodbuster, or Lockback and you'll be set up for just about anything.
I put "second knife" in quotes because it would actually be the primary knife for me with the big knife playing back-up for big chores.

Itll be nice to get some back in the collection. I remember last time, I got caught in the frenzy and had accumulated quite a bunch, (single clip with end cap is my jam) then let them go, and by mistake let too many go. It's a small knife indeed, but still bigger than the keychain, the 06, 09, and I want to say the beagle/coyote and maybe tied with the 66/68s in size.

Anyone know if GEC plans to produce some non SFO's on this one? Spoke to one dealer this morning and they seemed to think it was SFOs only which I thought would be odd.

I'll be scrambling for a TC or Liclk Creek in most any cover. Gorgeous woods, beautiful bones. Looking forward to seeing what these shape up to be.😅
