As a card carrying mall ninja, I still can't get excited about these offerings. Any folder over 3.5"? Nope. Any tacticool fixed blades? Nope. Tomahawks? Nope. Like I said, I hope there is more to comeIt looks like collab between AliExpress and Gas stations... what a joke.

We need to let it sink in that Cold Steel as we all knew it is gone now...As a card carrying mall ninja, I still can't get excited about these offerings. Any folder over 3.5"? Nope. Any tacticool fixed blades? Nope. Tomahawks? Nope. Like I said, I hope there is more to come![]()
Yes, wise and true words. We need to let it sink in that Cold Steel as we all knew it is gone now...
But there's plenty of good quality manufacturers though.
CS has a history of copyingThat machete was the dumbest move they could do. I would have understand if that wasn't the CS (aka leading bad-ass machetes manufacturer).
GSM guys ae fucking serious???
+1,000,000! That is what I have been doing. Watching review videos over and over of models I have be interested in but passed up on. My wife is probably questioning my sanity.Yes, disappointing line up. My advice: make a list of all the models you want but donāt have. Then look at the list and cross out the knives that you can do withoutā¦purchase the ones left (that youāve always wanted for a long time). My prediction: everything will be gone in about 2 yrs time (max). After that youāll only be able to get stuff from flea bay, and itāll be marked up tremendously. This forum will probably be defunct by then. Hope Iām wrong about all this but looks like itās headed in that trajectory as others have stated.
The Leatherneck Bowie is the only thing that reminds me of the old CS.The sharpeners are all rebranded stuff I've seen before and the machete looks like the version that Harbor Frieght sales. Notice none of the new folders have blades over 3.5". The only thing I like is the Leatherneck Bowie.
That was the only new model that caught my eye too. D2 Steel is supposed to be quality material, wonder where it will be made? But itās not a priority (got a Becker BK9) thatās one big mamajama, LOL!The Leatherneck Bowie is the only thing that reminds me of the old CS.
Yes , but ...I don't see any of them really filling the void left by the old school CS .We need to let it sink in that Cold Steel as we all knew it is gone now...

D2 is the flavor of the month, so I guess we will see some interesting Youtube videos once people are able to purchase these knives. Not to try to rain on anyone's parade, but I think D2 is a poor choice for a larger fixed blade survival/soldier knife. It is more brittle than traditional steels and tends to chip or break under stress, especially in cold weather when you need it most. It's also hard to sharpen in the field compared to traditional steels. D2 on a folder or a shorter hunting knife works better where edge retention is more important than outright toughness. But on a larger survival knife, very hard and brittle steels like D2 are not good. Steels like AUS8, 154CM, 5160, 3V, INFI, and softer-tempered 1095 are much tougher. 4116, 420HC and Sandvik are also super tough and at least for survival blade use, I would actually prefer one of these lesser steels than D2. The old Leatherneck was made with 4116 and was nearly indestructible. The current D2 version, however, has been breaking on some soldiers and woodsman who were not doing insane things with it. If Cold Steel reverted to 4116 or better, AUS8, I would grab a Leatherneck in a heartbeat because I know I could beat it to death and it would just keep on going.
Maybe S&W and Gerber sued them? Or CRKT because of name Drifter?Sooo, when you click on the New Products link, it takes you to a landing page with all GSM brands. It looks like they are re-working the CS new products page. Perhaps they heard the backlash?
