#117, a very fine pocketknife. I compared it to a few other large pocketknives' I own (a Buck 307 Large Stockman and a Winchester 2913 1/2 Moose). The Buck Wrangler has a 3-3/16" Clip blade, the Winchester Moose as a 3-1/4" Clip, while the GEC/Blade Forum Large Stockman has a 3-3/8" Clip (longest of the three). OH

Especially given Spark's recent admonition regarding the popularity of certain number combinations, including the one I requested, I was somewhat surprised when the Blade Forums Traditional Knife #111 showed up on my doorstep yesterday.

Why 111? At the time, I didn't know - I just had a feeling. I don't have a connection to the date (January 11th or November 1st), I'm not particularly religious so I wasn't thinking about the Trinity or any particular Bible verse (Although I do like the line from Genesis 1:11 which deals with the creation of trees and seed-bearing plants), I wasn't thinking about Bilbo Baggins's "eleventy-first" birthday (although that's one of my favorite books), and being about as far from a mathematician as a person can be; I certainly wasn't thinking of any mathematical expression either (but I like that the palindromic number 111 multiplied by itself equals 12321 - another palindromic number).

When I was filling out the online order form, the number 111 simply popped into my head as the only obvious choice. Why not try for the date of my birth, or the year, the last three numbers of my social security number, my telephone area code, or any other seemingly meaningful number? I have no idea.

I think the meaning that fits best is that the number 111 is considered by many to be related to new beginnings (I could certainly use one of those...) - an indication that one is on the correct path and that evidence in support of that idea is forthcoming. Others say it is a validation of ones intuition and a message to trust oneself (a particularly difficult feat of late). In any case, I'm happy with the jigging and dye job - not too dark, not too light, like Goldilocks - hey, 1 bear + 1 bear + 1 bear = 3 bears! Maybe that's it!

Anyway, here you go, #111 in all her glory (please forgive the minor staining on the blade - I began using her immediately):

That Winchester ain't no slouch, either... 🥰

These came out pretty sweet. Love the darker colored bones. Unfortunately I'm not buying like I used to anymore and stockmans of these sorts aren't my thing but I'm happy to see the end result. Enjoy your knives everyone and thank you to Spark and everyone else involved for another opportunity at a Forum knife.
