2024 GEC 39s - Let’s see em!

I see a lot of Indian Paintbrush in the Sierra, and it ranges from orange to red to fuchsia. Here is a selection of shades seen in the Sierra; there are probably a lot of other shades elsewhere. BTW, some people are trying to change the name from Indian Paintbrush to just Paintbrush.

I wish they would just ask our "Native Americans" what they think about all that stuff. My gut tells me they are proud to be called Indians and want nothing to do with the political correctness. But I could be wrong too.

Living in house full of Cree for alot of my life sprinked with Chippewas and a dash of Dene I can say there has been many jokes told about how they became "Indians" but I can assure you non of them like being called Indians, but also politics is not a subject spoken with admiration correct or incorrect lol.

I like that name better, JW!!! Are they the same plant, do you know??
(edited to add; apparently it is the same plant!!!)

Apparently they are both "Hawkweed"!!! At least the references I found!!???
Didn't know about the Hawkweed -- but, I do know that Devil's Paintbrush smells faintly of vanilla. That's all I got, Charlie! 🤣

And, since this thread has momentarily devolved into a botany class, here's Devil's Paintbrush,,,

I "garbled" it, google garbled back that they are the same, varying coast to coast, slightly!!
But I don't need another "rabbit hole"!! 🤣 🤣
Vanilla sounds nice!! I'll have to find some; somewhere!!
The actual flowers are beauties - nice color to emulate!!!
