Distressed Oak is from outside of barrel and I don't notice any whiskey scent. I see the drawing, but I'd still be interested to see the process of the actual cutting of the barrel staves. These outside covers start off at what thickness - 3/16-1/4" max in the rough?

And if you get a sawcut, you can very easily make it distressed by skipping it across the pavement.

I struck out on the versions I really wanted but I was at least able to get a Cocobolo on the way. Even if I get a blandly figured one, it will still look nice.

Cocobolo was my first choice and one is headed my way. I think you may see some nicely figured cocobolo on these.

I don’t think cocobolo is a consolation prize, they look great.

I also struck out everywhere for a whiskey barrel but was able to land a cocobolo from the early reserve and a Gunstock Jack’s SFO so I can’t complain.
