Well, in all politeness, when you become someone who makes something that hundreds of unwashed black shirt wearing weirdos* pay extra to attend a show early just to buy you out of everything you brought....you'll be free to conduct business however you want, ya know?

God, I can't believe I'm having to defend a bum like Burger, but the fact is, dude was only taking cash that day...and sold all his knives that morning, it sounds like. I'd daresay he's not too bothered by any potential business lost from someone who came to BLADE without cash. 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣

Sorry, I have to laugh, because I'm just trying to think on all the sweet deals I've made at BLADE in all the years I've been going because I had cash in hand, and I can't even remember 'em all. If you show up to BLADE with only plastic in your pocket....you're just kneecapping yourself unnecessarily, in my long, direct experience. I've been going to BLADE as long as OP has, all that time cash has been king.

* I'm a washed version of this exact weirdo, so I get to make fun of my own tribe!
This was my thought as well. If you’re a well-known maker and you know your product is going to move, then there’s no reason to worry about broadening your horizons when it comes to payment method. OP didn’t have cash and missed out because of it. Strider still sold that knife for cash to one of the next dudes in line.

I ended up leaving the show almost immediately as I was so aggravated with myself for investing so much time/money into that endeavor and coming up empty handed.
I am sorry to hear that you missed out on your knife.

I have entered many draws and lotteries and I have been lucky to win a few. I have seen knives I would love to own disappear in front of me never to be seen again. It is the nature of the place and the hobby. It's part of what makes attending Blade so exciting.

The Blade Show has the most amazing people and work in the cutlery/custom knife industry anywhere on the planet.
The selection is unbelievable and you get to see stuff and talk to knife world insiders that you simply don't ever get to see in one room anywhere......In the knife world Blade Show is it.

To leave Blade just because you missed out on a particular knife is unfathomable to me. But to each his own.

I have never been to a Blade Show, so this is new to me. The overall experience sounds quite different from a gun show.

I am right there with you with a Whisky-Tango on the 5AM -s-too-late thing!

For tickets, what is the delta on an Early Bird admission over general admission?

What advantage doe the early-in bring if one is there to buy a specific kn e?

Do makers discount their stock at a knife show?

Are Strider knives hard to find?

This thread reminds me of the "good old days" at gun shows.

Cash in hand . . . buy, sell & trade my way around the show . . . but those days are long gone. ☹️

At least, I'm old enough to have been there & still young enough to remember it. 😄

Never been to a Blade Show because Atlanta is too far for me to travel to visit just to browse. I've thought about driving to Salt Lake City to see the show there but driving over the mountains can be dicey in Oct & there's no way I'm flying to get there.

I'm not afraid of flying . . . I just don't want to deal with the TSA nonsense just to get on an airplane.

So, no Blade Shows for me. 🤷

But, if I ever go, I'll remember to bring cash. . . .

Too bad they still don't make $1k bills because that would be easier to carry the $10k that I'd need to visit the show, instead of that stack of 100 $100 bills that I'd have to carry (along with a gun) that I'd have to carry instead.

LOL!!! 😉
