According to the unwritten book of the road, which I am sure he adheres to religiously, Gus should probably check in and around Chad's truck seat.Gus lost it. I'll go down by his campsite tomorrow.
Chad checked thoroughly, found a bunch of half eaten sticky gummies (not Eric's kind), a few used bandaids, a dirty sock and 73 straw wrappers, but those were all from my kid..
It's taken me two days to catch up on this thread. Great pictures and a great time, thoroughly enjoyed catching up with old friends, meeting new ones and WATCHING the cut. It never ceases to amaze me how well rounded and social this group is, and the guys who came with their wives, they are just as great.
I did not compete this time for a few reasons but I was very very tempted, but honestly it was just as much fun to watch.
Jo, next year I am bringing a gallon jug so I can have the broth your greens are cooked in, I have been wishing I'd saved some since dinner Saturday
Mark is always texting me to call him but he never answers![]()
Probably his acid wash maybe???
Love that it’s all grey !
Sorry took me a while to see the posts. Love the Apocalyptic Acid finish, and I’m digging the all grey look too! That’s what I was going for when Mark asked me what kind of scales I wanted. Wish I had the capability to sandblast the fasteners too. I used some 220 grit sandpaper to take some of the shine off.Apocalyptic Acid.

Thanks Chad, but I think these fasteners are Ti. I’m getting a set of blue from Jo. I think they will look cool too.Ferric Chloride Acid (PCB Etchant) will take the polish off stainless, replicates a fine bead blast but most likely won't turn grey as there's less carbon than 3V. You can get a bottle for around $20 on Amazon, but keep in mind it's acid and will burn. It's handy stuff to have around!
They went out today. Thanks Chad, but I think these fasteners are Ti. I’m getting a set of blue from Jo. I think they will look cool too.![]()

Somebody set this abused light chopper on my desk. The primary had been bent and somebody beat it back straight with a punch. Which is not good.
We determined it needed a stress relief temper, regrind and tumble etc
I forgot who it was tho
That's mine, sent you a PM. You remembered a lot of details considering that we had just been in the bourbon tent when we had that conversation!
And you showed me the "Nathan luck" , he can pretty much throw sharp objects at the ground.... and get them to hit the target with 0 effortThat's the difference between remembering things and knowing things.
I have trouble remembering things. Always have and it hasn't gotten better as I've gotten older.
But I know what that knife needs.
PlusNate, you'd have been an excellent physician.
(Except for the do no harm part.)
