Here’s a piece I finished recently. My client asked if I could make him a unique fighter using any left over Damascus pieces I might have from previous projects. After locating and cleaning up 22 pieces of different sizes I put them into a 3”x3”x3” can and welded them up, this is what came out.
The blade, guard, spacer, butt cap are all from the same Damascus .The specs are
OAL 16 1/4" with a 11" blade , just a little under 1 3/4" at 1.670 wide at the widest point and .345 thick at the ricasso, its a heavy blade with a balance point approx. 1" in front of the guard. Handle is a beautiful piece of walrus Ivory.

Thanks for lookin”

Bill

Nice big bowie. Don't think I've heard of a damascus billet made from damascus before.

Thats not only some of the nicest Walrus ivory I have seen, but I love the whole knife. I wish I owned this one!

Jon, you already have half of all the good knives. Give another guy a chance.
I love the whole package. Damascus reminds me of Herb Derrs blades.

I am in no position to buy any knives for a while so i'm just dreamin' on. But hey, I'm not even close to being done! :)

One of my first damascus blades was one of Herbs. I love the look of his steel. I mean, how can't you!

This is a really sweet blade. Props to your client for the idea of using scrap damascus, and to you for executing the concept so beautifully.

I like that. The idea of using the scraps appeals to me. No waste and in skilled hands can create such beauty. Great work Bill.

Bill this may be a piecemeal project but WOW!!! you have created a banquet that would be wonderful for Breakfast, Lunch and Supper. What a feast for the eyes!!!

Jon -- not sure where Herb came into the picture but it it was still around, we could do spitballs at 20 paces for it. I'm old and don't want to get hurt.

Sure one sweet knife Bill. I bet Roger has that one put away for December.

Beautiful knife, Bill. What do you mean when you say you put the pieces in a can and welded them up. Is there a you-tube which shows the process?
