22 pieces to make 1

Thanks everyone I really appreciate your comments.

Tim, the can is a container made by using materials that you can make air tight (Oxygen free), its mostly a thin wall material that you can weld a heavier (1/8"- 3/8") piece of steel on to, to make the top and bottom, example- some guys use muffler pipe. I know there's different ideas of doing this but this is the way that works for me. I take a piece of thin wall (1/16") 3" square tubing. The thin wall material makes it easier to get rid of the surrounding can once the billets welded up. After stretching the billet out it leave a thin layer that's easy to grind away.
I cut my tubing and then use 1/4" flat stock to make the ends, the thicker stock helps the can stay together during the welding process ( for me anyway) . I cut the 1/4" to go inside the container then weld it on air tight. Once I get the bottom on I place a small piece of thin cardboard in the bottom of the can before I add any materials, then I add my materials along with 1084 metal dust and use a palm sander to vibrate the can to allow the dust to fill any voids and illiminate as much air as possible. Once I get the can filled to about 1/4" from the top I place the other end cap on and weld it up air tight. I then drill a tiny hole (1/64) it the top corner to allow pressure to escape the container as it heats and tries to expand during the first welding session. Now the card board I put in the can burns and removes any remaining oxygen in the can and as the can turns to a nice orange /red color I pull it out and quickly mig weld over the tiny hole to seal it up, then back into the forge until the can gets to welding heat, let it soak until the can has a consistant heat throughout then take it to the press and squeeze it in small increments uniformly by rotating it under the dies, then just heat and repeat several times until done. Thats all there is to it, like I said there's other ways of doing this but this works good for me. There's probably a couple videos of the process out there somewhere, if you do a google you can probably find one.

Thank again everyone

Bill
