a while ago i posted a thread asking how to get my parents into getting me a .22 rifle. well i dont have the .22 yet but with the help of a lot of your suggestions i shoot at a range every friday and i have my dad completely on my side. my mom is still gun shy and wont even walk into the building that houses the range, but ill give her some time;). anyways just wanted to thank you guys for the tips and pointers and maybe by this summer ill be all smiles with my rifle in hand

How old does someone have to be to buy a .22??

Glad you're shooting BTW!

I don't know whether it's a state or federal law (I'm thinking federal), but in Colorado it's 18 for rifles and shotguns, and 21 for handguns.

Depending on the state, a Juvenile as young as 12 can own a rifle if it was transfered or bought from a family member. I'm not sure about the exact details but you should do some research

Don't worry, most peope in our part of the woods shoot annimals for FOOD, not target pratice....:D

If i were to get a .22 i would get a GSG-5 which is a semi. .22 version of a MP5 that HK made :D MP5s or my favortie gun, but i am only 15... :grumpy:

How old are you ?

Does Dad own a rifle that you take to the range, or do you rent one there?

.

Win over your folks, by showing them how safe and responsible your gun handling is.

This sounds dumb, but it is vitally true.

Good Luck.

David Ewell im 14 and no my dad doesnt have a rifle and we use one at the range they provide

Liam Ryan exactly what im looking for some one metioned it a while back in my first thread, i took a look at the Lux and it seems like a great gun

Little man, You've got to get a Ruger 10/22  You can upgrade & change the body to look & shoot the way you want ! ;)

Another vote for the 10/22.

In the meantime look into picking up a Benjamin Sheridan pellet gun. They are cheap, quiet and quite effective for removing the yard of chipmunks and other rodents without spooking the neighbors. They are a good cheap way to practice at home if you have a decent sized yard.
