.22 WMR Recommendations

.22 WRM makes sense in places where centerfires aren't legal to hunt with or you don't handload. They also do less damage to a coon or fox pelt than say a .223 or .22-250.

As for cost, I hear you guys. Just when to Cabela's for some Winchester Supreme rounds and talk about staggering increases!

A lot of it depends upon your area and what game that you have combined with the ranges normally encountered.

One killer combo is a stripped down, lightweight 5.56mm (.223) CAR-15 with a 16" superlight barrel, a flattop, flip down sights, and an optic. Then you get a Ceiner or one of the other .22LR conversion kits. They work surprisingly well. To change the rifle from 5.56mm to .22LR you just drop the 5.56mm mag, pivot open the receiver, swap out the bolt carrier with the conversion unit, close the weapon, and insert the.22LR mag.

The Ceiner conversion unit weighs about 1 pound.
