Got the micarta scales on Wednesday, the knife Thursday and am awaiting the Tek Lok today. Took it out to the woods yesterday and collected a nice stash of birch bark, but all I could find on the ground was a bunch of green branches (had a big storm about six weeks ago), and then it got dark so planned to go out again today. Spent the night at my gf's last night and since she's not a big fan of big knives, left it in my car. With the *&^%^*( door unlocked. I lock it every night except for last night. Came out this morning to find the car completely rifled through, sans the knife, my ipod, and my stash of quarters for meters. Oddly the radio and faceplate were still there. So pissed.

Damn, that sucks big time. I'd be pissed to. I can't stand a thief. Too effing lazy to earn the money themselves to purchase something. Prey on others' hard work. Bastards.

that sucks. I mean, totally sucks. file a report at your city's police Dpt. there shouldn't be that many people that own BK-2's in one city.

That's a good idea... honestly I'm a little concerned what they're going to say though -- I live in the People's Republic of Cambridge and there aren't too many knife collectors around here. Hell Massachusetts law puts the ultimate decision of issuing a gun license in the hands of the local police chief, who can deny it for any undeclared reason. I wonder if they'll give me %^&$ for leaving a weapon in my car?

I am a police officer myself, and any cop that look at a knife as a weapon, well, they are not my friend. Some cops do not believe in arming citizens. i for one, do. Armed citizens are the best deterrent to crime.

now i am rambling... it's one of my hobbies!!

Really sorry to hear they broke in your car. I hope the police are able to do something or at least your insurance can replace it.

Maybe whoever did it will drop it and cut their foot off! We can hope anyway.

Man I hate to hear that. They'll never catch him either. Don't care much for thieves.

When I was in school we lived in a third floor walkup in a bad neighborhood for a while. My roommate got up to whiz one night and saw a guy going through his car. He said "Oh no you don't" grabbed his 1911, raised the window, started screaming at the guy and opened fire at his own car. One of the rounds hit the hinge on his Vega and blew the door completely off. The guy set a new 1000m record and my buddy spent the day at the police station over it. Pretty funny now.

That blows, brother! I could get over losing an ipod to a dirtbag thief, but my BK2?! That s#!?head needs a good old fashioned beat down!

Ha! Wow if someone tried to pull that up here they'd be all over the news and in jail for sure. I'll try my insurance but with the door unlocked I'm not sure how much luck I'll have. Also with the cops, there's no serial number on the bk2, though there is on the ipod. Can they use correlating items as evidence? Who knows. Ach. Well, off to tutor and try to recoup some of the money. Question becomes, when I get the funds, bk2 or bk10? Checked the other day and looks like Kabar still has a few left...

I'll trade you a bk-2 for a bk-10 :D

Sorry to hear about this... I'd make sure it's legal to have the blade in your vehicle before I called the law. May not be worth the potential hassle. Got a kick out of the Vega story tw:)

hop on over to the knife laws forum. there is probably a thread about mass already. Ill look myself and see if i can find any info for ya

Clich man, you're the best! You're always helping folks out. I know there's some sticky about pending knife legislation in Massachusetts but I haven't read it.

Really bad news. I often have "stuff" in a vehicle and it is always locked. (Except when I forget to lock it which is rare.) Really hope it works out for you!!

Steve
