I just read an article in the new Outside magazine called 51 perfect things...I thought it would be neat to know what we look at as perfection. I thought Id give ya my list of 25 things I feel are perfect (in no particular order)
1) paracord- stood the test of time, and is always around me.
2) Pepsi can stove- lots of cups of joe, and warming teas and soups made on my trusty recycled pepsi can.
3) removing a heavy pack after a day hiking to the perfect camp spot.
4) The smell and heat of a fire, mixed with the sounds of the backcountry at night
5) Merrell footwear
6) The feeling of a full rigid steel mountain bike with one gear on a technical section of trail.
7) that week in between winter and spring, when the forest is waking up from its slumber
8) fire by friction- nuff said
9) a deserted stretch of beach, where you feel like the only person on earth.
10) Red Seal Ale
11) broken in Chaco sandles
12) Swiss Tool Spirit multitool- everyone can be Macgyver
13) My Snugpak Sleeka pack. Never have I found a pack I love more.
14) GI poncho liner, stood the test of time, and a nessisity for me.
15) 27oz Klean Kanteen- Some might think Guyot, and I love my Guyot, but my 27oz KK is a constant companion, everyday, for the past few years.
16) Sharing a fire with friends.
17) allowing yourself to get out of your comfort zone. Pushing it to that next level, taking a risk.
18) Watching my sons do anything.
19) A custom knife. The warmth and soul that an inanimate object can hold.
20) Wool
21) Eating a meal you caught
22) Identifying your first wild edible
23) A bowl of black Cavendish
24) A hammock and a book
25) When someone learns a skill from you. The feeling of teaching.
How bout you?
