25 Things a man should be able to do, (accordin' to MSN) How many can you do?

Don't wanna be a smart azz, but that was pretty easy, guess that I am well rounded...

One thing I have found, is that if a man applies himself, there is almost nothing he can't do, and do well.

Some I don’t agree with like 2, 5, 16, 21 and 25. Computers are nice but my life wont come to a screeching halt if it ceases to work.
5 I don’t think so, I have manipulated photos but I wont waste time doing touch ups.
16 Never backed up anything
21 I don’t own an HDTV, but I do read directions.
25 I hate wireless routers I have cable running to my two home computers and I don’t own a laptop.

I have practiced the boater but have never done and that was years ago.
I have never given CPR for real, I don’t know how many times I have been certified, its been a bunch

Never done much of the computing stuff, but I do have back ups of the important stuff on my computer as well as doing all the clean up and virus protection stuff.

Never rescued a capsized boat, but have recovered the bodies.

More CPR than I care to remember, a by product of working in a hospital.

All the rest is pretty normal man "chores".

This is the part where I get to sing my favorite song:

"It's so nice to have a man around the house."

Done the majority of those things, or can do the majority of those things. Probably could accomplish the rest if'n I set my mind to it.

But really...... I mean, REALLY. That is what y'all are for.

I have done all of them apart from setting up an HDTV as I don't have one. I did manage to set up a new television and DVD player. CPR was practised on a training dummy. At my age, I guess you have done most things in life.

Done them all except the HD TV thingie and extend wireless network.
Done most of the others many many times like make fire and navigate with map and made nonload bearing walls. Some I do all the time like back up a trailer and mix concrete and paint and get car (my truck) unstuck, etc etc.
Even done the rescue a boater. Two times infact.
Both times my father.

Regarding the CPR, the article says you should know how to do it, not necessarily have performed CPR on someone.

The REAL 25 things every guy should know how to do:

1) Tie a necktie.
2) Open a bottle of wine.
3) Sharpen a knife.
4) Accurately shoot firearms (at a minimum: breakdown shotgun, pump-action shotgun, auto-loading shotgun, bolt-action rifle, auto-loading rifle, revolver, and auto-loading pistol)
5) Fight.
6) Play billiards (aka: shoot pool).
7) Shuffel and deal playing cards.
8) Be able to play poker, blackjack, hearts, and spades.
9) Drink booze without coughing or making a face no matter how much it burns (afterwards just say "ahhh, smooth").
10) Mix at least four different cocktails.
11) Ride a motorcycle.
12) Tie at least four good knots.
13) String a fishing reel.
14) Make spaghetti.
15) Swim.
16) Use a chainsaw.
17) Barbecue ribs (no gas, only wood or charcoal).
18) Give a good body massage.
19) Tell a joke (at least two clean ones and four dirty ones).
20) Escape from handcuffs (don't ask).
21) Make an explosive device.
22) Make a campfire.
23) CPR.
24) Set up a fishing rig (either a Carolina rig or a Texas rig).
25) ***Keep it clean in Community***

man i suck!!! i can do only 12 of 25. not even half!!!!!!

Time to hand in your Man Card.

You are allowed to make substitutions though. For instance, riding a motorcycle cross-country is ~way~ more manly than plugging in HDTV cables. Cleaning a semi-auto shotgun is much more difficult than cleaning a bolt action rifle. Operating farm machinery or military vehicles could over-ride anything on that list. :D

It's not a very manly list anyway. Nothing about power tools. Trucks and tractors are a glaring hole. Motorcycling. 4-Wheel driving. Dogs and livestock. Outdoor skills are barely mentioned.

I like AllenC's better, no tricky HDTV computer garbage. Though only four knots and four dirty jokes...
As a gutter minded rockclimbing instructor I would say you need to set you sites a little higher.
Never fired either type of pistol or either autoloading long gun myself though, last on that list.
#25 and #3 counts double though

I propose this:

Important Man Skills:

1) Lawn care and maintainence
2) Care for a knife
3) Shoot and clean a firearm
4) Basic ourdoor skills - build a fire, set up a tent, navigate
5) Drive a tractor or machinery
6) Have a dog for a best friend
7) Some experience with livestock
8) Drive a stick-shift
9) Change a tire
10) Basic 4-wheel-drive skills
11) Ride a motorcycle
12) Stay in shape
13) Basic understanding and skills with at least 3 different power tools
14) Proficient with simple hand tools - hammer, screwdriver, wrenches, etc.
15) Wire a room for outlets and lights
16) Other basic home repairs - window glazing, painting, patching walls, etc.
17) Change a sink, faucet, and U-trap
18) Basic carpentry repairs
19) Take family photos
20) Basic electronics installation - computer, home theater, stereo, etc.
21) Keep Wife happy
22) Be a roll model
23) Grill and BBQ outdoors
24) Hunting and fishing
25) Basic financial skills - earning, saving, investing

I've done everything of that list successfully.
