260 Remington for my Wife

I've wanted to have a rifle built specifically for my Wife for quite some time now. We decided on a 260 Remington, built on a 700 action with a fluted Brux barrel and some other goodies. Her father loaded up some 130 grain Hunting VLD's for it, and it shoots really, really well.

The real beauty is in the stock... A long time ago I made the acquaintance of a new stock maker, Joel Russo. Fast forward to now, and he's not so new anymore... His wait times are right there with the Busse Custom Shop. But, like Busse's, the product is well worth the wait. I was tempted to buy a Cooper, but I am so glad that I went this route instead. This rifle will be a family heirloom... It's been sitting on our dining room table since it arrived, just so we can look at it all the time.

Here she is "Artemis".

Wow! Look at the figure in the wood! :D What is it, Claro Walnut?

Adjustable comb too? Nice!!!

It is Black Walnut. The figure is far deeper than the photos show. It is very chatoyant, the more you look at it, the more you see.

Yes, it does have an adjustable comb. I haven't mounted the scope yet, but I want her to be set up perfectly for our hunts together.

When we get some good sunlight I will take more photos.

I chose a 260 Remington for my wife allso, but it is just a Remington model 7 stainless/synthetic. Light and little recoil. But WOW, that rifle is a piece of art!

What would really be good looking would be a 1" hole in a target at 100 yards after five shots. Otherwise all you have is just a piece of fancy wall hanger.

I'll put my Rem 700 .243 up against this one in a shootoff, winner take both. Let me know when to show up for the contest.
Deal?

That's a beautiful rifle all the down to the Atlas bipod.

What are your plans for optics?

That's cool. You must be a really great shot. Congrats.

Beautiful stock/rifle and great story winmagfrog. I didn't even notice the adjustable comb until you mentioned it. I'd love to be able to get my wife to hunt with me but I don't think even a custom built rifle would do it.

You just never know who you are talking to, do you? Of course I do recognize that saying works both ways. For all I know, you could be a world record bench rest shooter.

One inch holes are easy. The bullet is ony .264 in diameter... I'll be at the NC Infiniti state championship this weekend, Blackwater 3-gun the next, Blue Ridge Mountain 3-gun after that and finally the Recon invitational. October is a little busy for me. Show up to any of the above and I'm sure we can find a way to play nicely together.

Sweet rifle - what model is the Busse? If that did not have a choil it could be perfect.

I dont really care for the 700 actions, as I much prefer controled feed actions but I love the 260 Remington. I choose to get my wife a .243 built on a Mauser 98 action. Nothing like the feeling of having your wife suggest "Hey you want to go hunting today." I love it. That stock is a thing of pure beauty I would love to see that bad boy in person.

I have an old Night Force varminter 3.5-15 that I'm going to put on it for her. Very simple reticle and great glass. Not too heavy, should be just right.

Thanks for the compliments :)

That is sweet. I hope you can manage a 1" group. LOL.

Gonna have to show this to my wife. She may actually agree to go hunting with me if I got her a setup like that.

Ok,I'll ask...
what is that round thing on the stock, (looks like a snap)
is it decoration or does it have some function?
As you can tell,I have limited experience with rifles :)
