260 Remington for my Wife

Thanks everyone for all the compliments. We are very happy with the way it turned out, and I knew that everyone here could appreciate the functional art.

As for GatorFlash1, I'm not sure what that was all about. I've certainly made posts that have been misinterpreted, maybe that's the case here. If not, he should have shown up to yesterdays match, I shot horribly! I think my sub-conscious mind may have been distracted by the fear of losing my Wife's rifle!

What contour is the barrel? Looks somewhere between a Douglass #4 or #5. You are correct, it's a Remington varmint contour, which I believe is right in the middle of the two you mentioned.
Who's bottom metal did you use? Badger.
Trigger? Tuned the factory one to break at 3lbs. It is good for a hunting rifle. I use Jewels on my LR guns, but they don't like to be dirty.
Brake? It's an SAS Arbiter suppressor adaptor. It's a good brake, and the suppressor is awesome. I'd highly recommend SAS, great price and quality. Go with the Titanium version ;)

Here's a video of the suppressor on a 300WM shooting a 190 grain bullet at steel 400 yards away. You can here the bullet impact, it's louder than the shot.

I remember hearing that Jim Borden had "No Joy" with one of his fine builds when the Jewel went "tick" in mid hunt.

Wow that is a beautiful rifle. I've had the stainless/synthetic model 7 since the year they came out with the 260. Great little cartridge.
Happy hunting!
Jody

Over time I've had 4 260s on my way to perfection.
The first one was stamped 6.5-308 as a kudo to A-Square who put the leg work in.

Gotta love shooting when the target makes more noise then the gun.

Good golly that there is a purty rifle. I, too, shoot a .260 Remington. It's a plain jane Sako 85.

Wow!@ THat truly is worth handing down for many generations to come. I bet it only gets purdier:thumbup:

Many thanks brother:cool:

Probably the best looking stock I've ever seen  y'all are welcome to come over here and shoot some coyotes any time if you like. I've been wanting to take several of them out but haven't tried yet and I've never been hunting before, whole bunch of them eating people's barn cats and whatnot.

That is a beautiful piece of walnut!! Is it pillar bedded? or did you bed the whole action? First few inches of the tube? how open is the barrel channel to allow for temp and humidity change with the wood? I would think you would have to leave some room in there to avoid and contact with the barrel.

I would love to see a stock with that much figure on a nice satin stainless rifle! I have a think for stainless/dark walnut rifles!!
