If only I'd known it was this simple!

It really is that simple. Next time some nitwit starts talking about the "magic" or "soul" of a knife, send 'em to me for a day in my shop. Tell 'em to bring plenty beer and sammiches. I guar-on-tee they'll spend 4 hours cleaning and listening and getting questions answered, and four hours actually making something. They'll go home sweaty and dirty and sore and tired, and they'll be holding a cutting implement that cuts stuff.

That tends to knock the nonsense out of a person ;)

SO much for being a pro.... I took your advice and now my knife doesnt have a handle left..... No worries, ill bill ya :p :D

Allow me to clarify for all the smart-alecs out there... grind away everything that doesn't cut when you make the blade. Leave something on the non-cutty end to hold onto, and grind away everything that hurts your paw.

Sounds like a party to me..... That or the beginning of EVERY scary movie :D

Hey Woody, your mini hatchet is en route. It should arrive Monday. I'll pm you tracking.

Like I said, bring beer and sammiches. You'll find out ;)

Ahhhhhhh, so good to be back in the kitchen. This is the start of mac and cheese.

Rock on witcher bad self. I haven't had mac'n'cheese from a box since I met Miss Angie, and I'll have to be pretty dang starvacious before I ever do again. Once you've had the real deal, the fake stuff just don't cut it.

Todd's Missus, made Baked MacnCheese with the ribs we had for dinner and it was delicious. Had some fresh cucumber slices with a little sea salt on em. That guy eats like a king ..lol

You computer software developers all love Linux, or UNIX, or .. Its a great development environment. For this end user, not so much. But I am not a guru. I'm just a hack.

Doc

GSO, I'm not afraid of Linux at all.. I have used it, and I had it installed on a dual boot system some years ago. I don't care for it. I started with UNIX systems years ago when I was the Tech Support Manager for a software developer around here. Linux, a derivative of UNIX, was junk for a multimedia system back then. It has gotten better as the different versions developed and improved their GUI. The problem is that its all a kludge. It was never developed as a multimedia OS, and everything is a catch up now. Not that Windows isn't either. It sat on DOS for years and always had the 640k for a TPA limit until a few versions ago. UNIX and Linux were at least flat memory OS'es. Apple has it all over all of them in terms of the GUI. The best multi-user UNIX style OS I have used was called BeOS. It was developed just for multimedia applications, but got bought out and squashed. It reminded me of how they took the Amiga OS years ago, and buried it. That OS was a true preemptive multitasking OS that ran on a floppy disk.

Sorry about the rambling. I just don't care for Linux or Unix for that matter. Maybe I should revisit Linux, though. As you pointed out, they are getting their UI more user friendly and is a "safer" system. We won't debate the bloat however, although Linux is less bloated than the UNIX environment.

Just a hack, huh? I don't believe you. You seem to know WAY more about computers than you intimated in that first post. I, on the other hand, really am just a hack....but I know that Linux is free, and if my kids can use it, so can I.

Always knew cats were evil...

So last week I packed up the missus and daughter and slipped across the boarder for a week in Yellowstone. Man what a beautiful area. Didn't get any backcountry time, but we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves anyways. Lots of wildlife, great scenery, and even a little learnin'. Finally got around to downloading pics:

Yay, hanging out on a supervolcano! Yay!

In unrelated news, I took delivery of a burnt orange Leek today. Amazing usa-made value. But I don't like the A/O (expected) and apparently have to modify it (drill) to de-assist (unexpected).

So I'm having a Guinness. :)
