Hey TBL.... I got to meet Andrew Demko, the designer of the Cold Steel Spartan last weekend. Cool guy, and a great cutter, he won 3rd place in the competition and was one of the only new people that was making it through the 2" ropes.

He makes some sweet custom folders. I checked out the folder he was carrying and it was beastly and awesome!! High dollar though.

Also met several of the folks from LT Wright knives. Cool people.

Also got a chance to check out a custom Strider folder... Way lighter than i imagined for the size... But not something i personally thought was worth the high dollar they command, just personal preference there, if im spending that type of money im getting a nice custom fixed blade.

Sweet! I love me my folders. I would love to have the disposal income to be able to afford a custom. Hell I'd even take a midtech or LE. I just have a really hard time spending over $300 for a folder.

Demko is a really interesting kinda guy. He not only designed the spartan, he is the brains behind the cold steel triad lock. Which is probably the strongest production lock on the planet IMO. Pretty much every CS blade that has the triad on it, he is behind in some way I am sure. Plus the American Lawman CS folder is a production version of his sorta trademark custom folder the AD-10. Cold steel really lucked out getting him on board. I am not really into custom/tactical/Midtech folders at all, (I'm with you, if I was droppin that kind of dough I'd be getting a nice fixed blade) but his AD-10 is the only one I am remotely interested in. If I had to have a customer folder it would be that, or I would commission a custom built to spec slip joint.

Constant Reefer Smoking does play a role in memory loss. Especially short term. Go a few weeks without it and things should clear up mentally for you :D

I was going to respond to that earlier but I forgot. Anyway, that's baloney... I haven't smoked reefer constantly in many many years, and I can assure you, the drain bamage is permanent. I blame it on the rock'n'roll.

WTH were we talking about again?

I could always send a few his way and see if it sparks a comeback. :D
Those crotch shots are solid gold!

That would prolly get him back real quick!! :D

Rock and Roll is a very potent potentiator.....

And we are talking about sandwiches.

You need to do something new, like, a sheepsfoot blade...

I can hear the snark wheezing from here.

on a side note, I HATE iTUNES!!! Can't do a clean uninstall without getting into the registry...I've removed and reinstalled it 3 times, different ways, and it keeps telling me I need to reinstall it. But only on my 64-bit laptop. On my 9 year old desktop, it works fine. I suspect Apple makes their software work like $#!+ on Windows just to prove how much better the experience would be on on of their products, when in actuality what they've done is make me hate their inoperable, non-user configurable crapware. If I didn't have 5 ipods (some of which won't work with the 3rd party software that WORKS) I'd ditch it entirely.

Rant over.

Install XP mode on your 64 bit machine. It installs XP that runs in a virtual machine. Works pretty good. Its free from M$. Once the virtual machine is running, you install Itunes in that environment.

oh hells yeah!

Got something in the works w/ Mr. H. And another razr in the pipeline.

Install Linux on your 64bit machine and throw away your iPods!
Solves both problems. :D

I almost upgraded to an iPhone but I think I'm sticking to android... My iPod doesn't work that great on my pc either. I use my "i" radio docking station for everything. I only take it to the gym then it pretty much stays docked or put away... It does seem like you need everything "i" to have that me experience...

I just installed itunes 64 bit on my win 8 laptop. It seems to work ok. Well, as good as Itunes ever works.

Oh, Win 8 sucks

You computer software developers all love Linux, or UNIX, or .. Its a great development environment. For this end user, not so much. But I am not a guru. I'm just a hack.

Done; have a couple machines running Linux including my laptop (dual boot). Rhythmbox
Works, but it mismatched album covers to songs on my daughter's pod and now plays songs with the wrong cover art. I actually like the hardware - iPods are decent players - but iTunes blows equine junk. Still searching for 3rd party app that'll handle gen 6. Apple messed with something that renders my current app useless for those two 'pods. Imma hafta build a new desktop PC sometime soon; at this point I'm thinking I won't be purchasing an OS. It's more of a "making the leap" sort of thing. Shouldn't be terrible; I've already got 6 machines running Linux. And who can argue with free, especially when it works and is practically immune to viruses?

Oh, and don't be afraid of Linux, Doc; my 13 and 9 year olds use it and neither one of them is a developer. Every iteration gets more user friendly, and it was pretty OK to start with. Also sh!+loads faster than Windows OR Mac OS. Absolutely no bloatware.

Am I gonna be able to get in on this or am I gonna have to wait for someone else to back out before I get to buy it... AGAIN?!

Excellent, I'll take a good tall Reuben, thank you very much.

I don't do the iPhone thing, or whatever-the-hell-else y'all are rambling on about.

I do sometimes leave the radio on in the shop, but that doesn't count for diddly either, since it's usually drowned-out by awful "music" and the horrible screams of metal getting cut and/or ground within the "ballpark" of several thousandths of an inch of something that sort of resembles a cutting implement.

That's an awful business, and I do not recommend it for anyone with a conscience or an aversion to terrifying nightmares.

No, yes. Ain't that a bitch?
