Recommendation? 3.25-4 inch folder for going out.

I'd go with a Sebenza or an Umnumzaan. My zaan has never let me down.

Or maybe a ZT452

Not that I 'go out' all that often, but when I do I pick from these.

+1 to this.

It rides slim in the pocket, not too much friction, but has a longer blade than it feels like it should have, for how low profile the carry is.

The Al-Mars are always elegant, but they're just VERY expensive, for how humble the steel is.

A surprise dressy carry is the Cold Steel Code 4. So thin, short clip, but then out she comes and BAM, she's a MONSTER!

Budget option: CRKT Pilar with clip removed; pocket carry. Slim & heavy, and wow how it fits the hand!
+1 on the CS Code 4. One of my favorite EDCs, although G10 or Micarta aficionados may not like aluminum scales.

I always wondered, whether the William Henry damascus affects the taste of food, or whether there is any issue with food affecting the damascus blade? Like imparting a rusty or metallic flavor, etc. Any impressions? TIA
Chocolate seems to be richer, darker, and creamier when released from its packaging, but other than that no. :p:):D

The Laconico Keen works well for me as a "sorta dressy" knife. It's almost as big as a Lg Sebenza, but feels much smaller in pocket. It's not tactical looking, and although it's a flipper, it's pinchable, so if needed, you can open it without drawing any attention.

Gayle Bradley 2. Carbon fiber grips make this a very classy looking knife, and it slices even better than it looks: CPM-M4, deep hollow grind takes an awesome edge like 52100 and holds it even better.

Going out full casual, in jeans?

I'll grab the large Sebenza or SHF

Semi formal-ish, like a co. Christmas party or something, I'll typically reach for the small Sebenza or my George Muller.

Full casual, suit and tie, 99% of the time if not 100, it's a titanium Boker+ urban trapper in my jacket pocket, paired with a small traditional in my pants pocket. Thin and light enough that it carries nice without the weight creating any odd wrinkles or deformities in the suit's appearance like many chunkier or heavier knives tend to do. It's not much different then a pen in the inside breast pocket.

That all said, you're already looking at a Sebenza, and really can't go wrong, I would only suggest if you're already considering higher end, depending on your budget, at least looking at some of the other S.African knifemaker's guild offerings, just because maybe something grabs your eye as, "this is definitely the one".... Some are harder to find then others, some are certainly pricier then others, but Muller, Prinsloo, Thornburn, Burger, Steenkamp, Van Deventer, all make some quality stuff, so lots of awesome and classy knives out there, and some are right there in that Sebenza price range... If nothing else, it's worth checking out if only for the knife porn...

3.75 inch closed. 0.5 inch thick at fattest point. D2 blade steel with good heat treat, even grinds, and (on my example) no blade rub.
Pull on all blades is a "5". All blades have a half stop, and match strike pulls.
Smooth black canvas Micarta covers.
On my example, there are no noticeable gaps anywhere.
Marbles MR431 Sowbelly Stockman.
Cost is a budget friendly/loving under $20.

(updated picture after 1.5 months consecutive use and carry.)

Or you need a Southern Grind Spider Monkey...

Great carry size. Ergos are spot on. The carbon fiber is rich and superbly done. The steel is done right.

You can even get it in Damasteel for those times you gotta wear a tux.

There's a bunch of configurations for this one, search around and look.

Grab one from Whitty over at USA Made Blade

That spider monkey is nice and it has a cooler name than the Sebenza.

this is what I ended up with. It is really nice. I hope it doesn’t turn me into a fancyboy.

My "going out" pocket knives are either a bright blue cherry blossom MKT Slim Midi Marauder or a beautiful flipper from Andre Thorburn. If I get the time, I'll post a pic. If I'm going out in a suit, then I will have a carbon fiber/titanium William Henry Lancet to my shirt pocket. It is so light that it is like having a pen clipped to my pocket.

Sometimes I will take either a PM3 with ice-blue carbon fiber scales, or a Koenig Mini-goblin. I have gotten more comments on these two knives than any others in my collection, including a couple of Sebenzas. I don't carry my large Sebenza when going out, as I just don't need that kind of size/weight.

May I throw an oddball suggestion out here? Look at the ZT0460, which has been discontinued but still available out there. 3.25 inch blade, but carries much smaller. It's a good choice with suits, since it doesn't weigh hardly anything. Good blade steel, etc.

I just got a kizer clutch for my dressy knife. I guess that's a budget sorta knife. Just not spending over 200 bucks for anything. Was 140 on amazon. Slim and classy but user friendly!

Also using a ferrum forge stinger in marble CF for some class.

Just 2 budget knives however the kizer clutch looks so so good for the price.
