3 inch slicer FFG

Did anyone already suggest Spyderco's Sage 2?

Good call, I completely forgot about that one.

To be honest, I think that would be a nice platform for some sprint runs in some more exotic steels.

If you like the Benchmade Mini Grip, you might consider a Ritter Mini Grip. It brings M390 steel and a HFG blade. You still have the standard plastic handles which some people just don't go for.

An easy fix for the plastic handles is to pick up some aluminum handles from Advanced Weapon Technologies. They regularly sell blems for $50 a set. They really transform the Grip into an entirely new knife.

This kind of exceeds your target budget of $150, but you could grab the Ritter Mini now and pick up a set of AWT scales when they have the color you want available as a blem.

Another good idea, I'll look into it!

Thanks!

Spyderco Manix 2 LW in s110v
The cutting performance is just out of this world!
If your wondering if it is tough enough, let me tell you that the ball bearing lock and the frn handles will never fail you!
Ive put mine through lots of crap and its still perfect lockup!

If you're open to one more suggestion, i would recommend the boker plus urban trapper.
Very lightweight and a very slicy blade.
It is also very high quality.

Overall i think the Manix is the king for your criteria...

I agree. ^^ Spyderco's full flat grinds are slicing demons. The Manix is great. Also, consider the Paramilitary 2.

The mini 550 is on the radar. Love everything except handles. Wish it was FFG.
I like the bionic, but like stated it is overpriced. Also I have heard mixed reviews on the flipper so I think I'll stay away.

The 940 could be good too but I'm going to try to stay lower than that on the budget.

Thanks [emoji3]

Ritter Mini Grip isn't FFG, but it almost is (high flat saber grind) and it is a pretty good slicer. The Delica FFG geometry still cuts circles around most same sized locking folders, but you have to choose a blade you feel good about.

Well, you said you had a preference against the usual brands, but they're the usual brands for a reason, and with your criteria I can't help but immediately think of Spydercos like the Sage and the Domino.

This said, if you're going to be cutting tons of cardboard, you might want serrations, or a plain edge in a steel you can sharpen easily. Does it have to be a folder?

It doesn't have to be a folder. I have a fixed blade that I carry sometimes and would be open to another. Though it would have to be pretty small as I also work with people and you know how they get when a big scary knife is showing [emoji33]

Picked up 2 of the aluminum ZT0770s from BladeHQ. They are slightly different from the original ZT0770. They have the upgraded pivot and back spacer from the 0770CF. Dresses up the plain 0770 a bit. I was unaware these changes had been made. They also added some small aggressive gimping to the flipper.

Thanks man, appreciate it!

FFG and good slicer? Sounds like spyderco to me. Can't believe I'm going to say this as a ZT fan but most ZT knives (my 0770cf is the exception) are not great slicers, even the 0562 isn't any where near my pm2.
Love my ZT 0770CF. I have been eye balling the m4 version but haven't pulled the trigger on it.

I know you asked for a wharnie or sheepsfoot blade, but notice people were suggesting other knives....

Have you looked at the new upcoming spyderco knives for 2016?
The manta 1 and 2 both are about 3" come w/ a FFG CPM-M4 blade and retail about $170. There will be a s110v Native 5 as well. I would also suggest maybe looking at some the of the upcoming sprint models for 2016 as well, there will be 2 different M4 PM2 sprint models, manix 2 in s110v & a cpm-154/s90v composite blade.

Kizer gemini has a 3.25" ffg s35v blade, full ti flipper, ceramic bearings, and steel lock-bar insert w/ over travel stop. runs about $170. It's a great knife as well.
