Lorien,

Got your designs today. I'll get started as soon as possible......... No, wait......... The designs I got today were from a guy named Lorenzo who wanted them made from mower blades.:eek:

Seriously, those are some pretty fair scratchin's. It is easy to recognize that you have an eye for design.

Good luck, and keep us posted.

Robert

Well played sir, I literally lol'd! Funny thing- a few of my close friends call me Lorenzo :)

Lorien, I also called John White's Legacy dagger cute...but really I do find the Persian rather fetching, or cute! Ben

man, I Randy Couture just came to town and kicked everyone's ass! That dude is cute!

sorry to pull some necromancy here, but there are updates!

That wakizashi thing, well, it's getting started;

snazzy PD-1 steel for this unit.

Also, the persian styled thing got lost in the mail, so I redrew it and the new pattern is superior in every way, imo;

All great looking designs. Will the middle one be done in 3V? I think someone with the initials S.B. would do that design proud in W2 with a smokin' hamon. Just my opinion.;)
My thoughts as well. #2 is screaming Stuart at me. Probably needs a matching saya too.

Do you have any tips on how to draw a knife design, or know of any good "tutorials", or guides for doing this?

Great looking designs by the way.

I'm guessing Claudio on the Persian? Good call on Dan Keffeler for the waki. That super assassin waki is a thing of beauty. That being said, I too am looking forward to the next sword that Stuart Branson makes.

thank you. I know of no tutorials for going about learning how to design knives. I think that looking at thousands and thousands of pictures of them, paying attention to what you see, especially that which you like about them, and drawing drawing drawing is probably a good way to get a handle on it.

I don't do this consciously myself, but i read in one of Ed Fowler's Blade articles that he suggests looking at a knife you like and then trying to draw it without it in front of you. Seems like a good idea.

Thanks as well to the rest of you's for the kind words :)

That Persian has DL's signature guard. I hope that comes to life. :D

Cool stuff. Good eye.

My thoughts EXACTLY. No one will pull that guard design off any better than the original mastermind behind it. ;)

nothing yet to report on the khuk, and no guarantee there will ever be any! Still just an idea floating in the ether...

Nice designs! I was also inspired to make a big two handed chopping sword after seeing the videos of Super Assassin.
Especially love the subtle handle and colt's foot on your version.

Oh yeah! That Persian is seriously cute...I've wanted to see Dave's split ring guard done on a blade with a bigger footprint. Hope to see this one come alive.
