I know not everyone is into batoning, but I am. Walked in the other day, & heard something banging on porch, & my three year old, Malachi, was going to town!! Like father, like son. ;)

Look at the concentration on his face. Maybe we could all learn something there.

Is that a chunk of broken concrete he's using as a baton? That can't be good for the spine of your knife LOL.:D

Great pics, though. He'll do you proud.

Doesn't seem so since there is an adult sized leg right behind and someone (assuming an adult) is taking the picture.

That's awesome...good looking son you got there

How are is fire-making skills :D

I think it is cool that he is practicing what he has seen and you probably have tought him. It is how they learn and I think it is awesome. What knife is he using btw?

Your 3yr old is allowed to play with knives by himself?

What does that matter? I "play", use, knives by myself. What's the difference as long has he has been taught how to use one properly? Ever watch documentaries/videos of primitive tribes? Some of those kids know how to use a knife better than I do by the time they are 3.

OP: Awesome! He looks like a pro.
Now that he knows how to batton, you need to teach him which baton materials are better than others...;)

Great, a kid batoning! I love to see this sort of stuff. Next time, teach him it is better to use wood as a baton ;)

i wish i was allowed to use a knife at that age, but when i have a child of my own i plan on teaching him these skills as well.

T:)hanks Brother! A CRK F4-12 Carson design. I have 4 sons & a girl 17, 15, 11, 3, 1! Bought all of my sons one a couple years ago, Malachi is just getting to use his, with parental guidance! don't know if they make them anymore, but I couldn't turn these little kneck knives down, & they where under ten dollars! Got one for myself too, & it is tuff as nails!

Couldn't stop him till I my wife got pictures! The way he was concentrating, I wouldn't have cared if had been a $300 blade opposed to a $10! I don't even know where he grabbed the block from! He had set it in his little mind that he was going to baton that stick! Thanks Bro!:D

This is absolutely excellent!

Not only is the cute little guy wholly focused, he's got a good, solid grip too.

He's got great concentration, especially as he's having his picture taken and is not distracted in the least.

Its good that little people are encouraged in proper knife handling techniques at an early age.
