$30 knife recomendations?

A delica 98 is only a few bucks over $30 if you get it at the right place.

I may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer... but I've got the sharpest knife in the room.

Another vote for the CRKT Mirage. I've got the Wharncliffe. Excellent knife - the low price only adds to the allure!

I dunno how useful it would be for his job, but for a personal knife that will see more use than anything else, the Victorinox Mini-ChampII SAK is a great way to go. Between the two knife blades, the flat and Phillips-head screwdrivers, the small scissors, "orange-peel cutter" hooked blade, tweezers, retractable and replacable blue ball-point pen, as well as other tools, it gets far more use than any of my other knives. All this in a 2.25" package. It's the same length as the Classic model, but thicker to accomodate the extra tools. I don't think there's another knife that even comes close to the tool selection, size efficiency, and overall daily utility out there.

I had considered a swiss army klnife, but he carries a Gerber multitool with him so I didn't think he would use it.

I am definately getting him the Apache police edition.
