300 and under

A Gransfors Bruk small forest axe and a midsize fixed blade like the Fallkniven F1 would be good choices for “around” the home use and both can be had for around $300.

:) So now it dawns that OP's query is bottomless , impossibly wide and deep ? And you enabled this lazy and disrespectful behavior . You have surely helped the boy prepare for the real world . He"ll go far with his " I need something , FEED ME " communication skills . He couldn't even be bothered to spell "Leatherman" correctly . I had to guess what a "weatherman " knife could be . At some point coddling becomes abuse , when self-discipline and responsibility is what's desperately needed to be taught . End sermon .:thumbsup::thumbsup:

True, but you can do that without insulting. Well, maybe you can't but others around here can.

Jesus dude. I'm just asking for reccomendations, not a half baked sonnet from someone who doesn't have anything better to do.

This is for home. I went with a weatherman on that last thread
You'll need to give us more information if you want a more meaningful recommendation. Otherwise the recs will be all over the place.

I really like this idea. The small forest axe is a well made, versatile, life time tool. I'd choose a different knife but that is a personal preference. Something like an esea 3, 4, or 6. Whatever your size preference.

Maybe a used sebenza? Simple, well built knife.

If it is to be a folder, a used crk is a great option. That or something from spyderco. So many options in basically whatever configuration you want.

Did you really just say that his behavior is disrespectful?

Oh, the irony.

Indeed he did.

Back on topic, I really could be set with a 3 tool system for about 300. Small forest axe, esee 6, and a sak. I'd miss the qualities of a one hand opening modern folder but all my true edged tool needs would be covered.

Hello Op and good luck in your search for a new knife.

$300 is a nice chunk of money that will offer many great options.

If you are looking to purchase a single EDC folder I would recommend ZT, or if you can find a CRK or Hinderer on this site on the secondary market. Awesome blades!

If you are looking to get a fixed I would spend some time looking at what many of the knifemakers here on the site make. Some extremely drool worthy blades and great prices!

And please don’t mind some of the rude replies, they are not indicative of the majority of the fine members here. This site has a lot to offer in knowledge and also entertainment.

Good luck in your search!

I'm on the Craytab & Standard78 small axe/hatchet + fixed blade train. Small, super sharp axe is the new Sebenza. Everyone now needs a really nice high-end axe with knife-like sharpness.

OP - it is a good time to try out a Hinderer XM-18 if you have not done so. With $300 you can buy a used XM-18 in good/great condition and if you don't like it, you can sell with little loss of $$.

Only $300?

Sebenza.

It looks like OP was just trying to spark up a convo, on the subject topic, not really necessitating specifics, which may or may not come up some time further should convo persist. Teh heh. Some grumpy old guys here, we are. Back to the man cave.. for me that is.
