300 and under

This is for home. I went with a leatherman on that last thread
For home use, the SpydieChef is a great choice well under your price limit. Premium fit & finish, super-slicy rustproof blade, comfortable handle, and fits the pocket like a smaller knife.

The Boos Blades Smoke is another excellent knife at a similar price. Slim handle, blade of a beautiful design with a nice length for the knife’s weight, and the front flipper design is addictive.

Perhaps...we really need a "sticky" that is subdivided into "dollar-max" values such as...
max of $100...max of $200...max of $300
with references stipulated to "casual carry" "office duty" "warehouse duty" "heavy-duty" and perhaps "woods duty in hiking"...
I think it's just great that we try to help everyone, but this type of thread just goes on and on and on...
OR...
a "sticky" that incorporates the results of a compilation of these generic threads as found via the SEARCH function... Realizing that the SEARCH function is already available, but apparently not used by newer "thread-starters"....we should make that COMPILATION visually apparent.
AND THEN...
There exists the possibility that some of these new threads are just new folks that seek a certain recognition and enjoy being "appreciated" by the personal recommendations of the more experienced members of the forum... Been there, done that.

I'd like to take this chance to educate. No insult, or chastising or blame.

Daniel, the thread creator has asked an overly broad question, and has been given a chance to narrow down his 'use scenario' and could only come up with 'around the house'.
It mimics the many hundreds of 'whats the best knife?' threads which happen over the years...

It annoys the real knife users, or knife aficionados because over simplification and generalization is like a cancer, it eats up good conversation and turns them in nonsensical every-opinion-under-the-sun arguments with no real point. In a way, these category of questions boil down to a straw man argument. Hyperbole follows and everyone posts suggestions they like, (for their own use scenario), and thus nothing but a bunch of opinions get thrown out there which equates to a chorus of farts in the wind.™

(lol, should I trademark that line? I like that)

Anyway, back to answering Daniel's question; his use scenario is 'around the house', without any detail of something like, "I do carpentry in the garage" or "I fix cars and stuff" or something else I am left with:
He's a young guy, who probably doesn't really use them much anyway. I would personally bet the real ask here is for a fidget spinner, aka flipper. Probably will be opened and shut 100 times before it's actually needed to cut anything. (There is no insult intended btw, honestly, some forum members take pride in this 'use case').

So, my final suggestion based on a bunch of my supposition is a fun flipper, perhaps the Gerfalcon? I'm told by flipper aficionados that's its great. (also inexpensive)

A KW exclusive spyderco military in s90v with CF/Ti handles. If sold out at $199, go with the cts-204p Military at $179, or th Benchmade Contego in m390. All KW exclusives. Use the leftover $$ for diamond sharpeners or Ontario D2’s Rat 2 or Rat 1. You’re in Military School, so you should have at least 1 Spyderco Military if you don’t already!

Actually it is pretty easy to deal with such overbroad and vague "what should I buy" posts. Just do not reply to them. I am amazed so many posters chose to respond.

Not really sure how to reply to everyone in the thread, because I am new to blade forums, but I have decided to get a benchmade crooked river. Thank you everyone for your help. Sorry I wasn't so specific.

Not the one I recommended but a good choice!

No worries. Stick around, read, and you'll get the hang of this place.

Fine choice in a knife btw!

It is a superb knife that will last you a very long time. Enjoy it.

Nice choice and still a few $ left for a decent spanking :D

A Delica and a good spanking.

Can't go wrong with a smatchet + jarbenza combo, but unless OP lives on a banana farm that kind of power is not what's needed.
You beat me to it :p

But so many good suggestions on here but since I don't know you well enough it is difficult to say if you are an outdoorsman type then I absolutely 2nd/3rd/4th what ever at this point the small axe + knife combo. If you are not and more an urban type and love a good EDC then certainly pre-owned CRK is great and for me I would probably look at a nice traditional and modern folder combo for a good EDC setup.

For the Modern + EDC combo I would look around on the exchange for some the good Queen knives or a GEC and then look at some Spyderco, BM, Kershaw, and ZT depending on how much budget is left. I would say traditional knife should range $75-$150 depending on a multitude of factors and the modern I would say a $100-$200 range so figure what works for you.
I now see your reply nice choice.

A Gransfors Bruk small forest axe and a midsize fixed blade like the Fallkniven F1 would be good choices for “around” the home use and both can be had for around $300.

Answering Post #3 by Hawgsnaut would simplify this whole thread.
This reminded me I want one of those Axe’s but couldn’t remember the name. Appreciate it

Closed. The OP has made his choice.
One warning so far for inappropriate content. might be a couple more on the way.
