this knife is new to the market, but i'll throw out into the mix, the southern grind bad monkey. the blade is a hair over 4" and it has an overall length of 9.25".

That's a really nice looking knife fore sure!! I know nothing about 14C-28N steel. You know anything about it??
kershaw uses it in most of their knives.
here is a link to the steel manufaturer's website: http://www.smt.sandvik.com/en/produ...fe-steel/sandvik-knife-steels/sandvik-14c28n/
a forum member named ankerson was nice enough to test a bunch of steels cutting through manila rope. here is his testing thread: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...based-on-Edge-Retention-cutting-5-8-quot-rope . 14c28n is in category 6 which is shared with 154CM hardened to 61HRC, and fits in between category 7 which has S30V at 58.5HRC and category 5 which has S30V at 60HRC. this would make it a good general knife knife steel.
i have experience with a pretty good selection of steels, unfortunately 14c28n isn't one of them.
