Thats a wierd one, glad to hear you are OK.

My Dad had trouble breathing completely out of the blue, turned out it was a bad reaction in his liver to some homebrew beer he had been drinking. He was fine - just not allowed to drink any alcohol for months to give his liver a rest.

Gall Bladder pain ...I've got it now and have had it since 1998, with two hospitalisations.

The first I thought it was a heart attack but wasn't.

The second caused a heart attack and stroke when gall stones got lodged in the bile duct and went septic, bringing on total renal failure exactly 5 year ago.

Ten days in ICU and another 18 days in hospital getting treatment to remove the bile duct stones but those in the gall bladder remain due to the risks I present in having surgery.

Got the official word. The Doc wanted to give me a scrip and check back in several months, but I asked "How about we yank it out now?" I'd kinda like to get all this nonsense out of the way and get back to work without any more interruptions.

He said "Sure." so, I go back under the tiny laproscopic knife on Wednesday, January 7th. While he's in there, he's going to try to drain some of the fluid that seems reluctant to leave the cavity left by my hernia. Bonus benefit- because the bump there is still a little tender and is not diminishing as fast as I would like.

Hopefully, I can begin the year with any major medical issues behind me. Than you all for your support and encouragement. :) I'll keep you posted.

The sooner the better. Enjoy the fine hospital cuisine. See ya when you get back to running around the woods at night. :)

Wow Mac! good to know what it is....
Smoke ,Song and Prayer that it all has the best possible outcome and that you heal quickly. Before you know it you'll be back in full swing.

Thanks, guys. :)

I witnessed my Father, Mother and two Brothers-in-law going through the agony of bad gall bladders. I am enough of a wimp to want to avoid that. Since the stones don't go away on their own, and since the surgery to have the bladder removed is so routine, now- why not get it out of the way?

Bonkers, I sure wish there was a simple solution available to you. :(

Just got home, and of course my first priority is the Cantina. ;)

Gall bladder is now gone, and with it one apparently really big stone. Fluid from area of previous hernia repair has been aspirated. I am still pretty groggy, have lots of little sharp pains all over my abdomen and am waiting on my scrips to be filled at the pharmacy. After I get them, I'll probably try to nap off a little more of the anesthesia.

All in all, not nearly the discomfort of the hernia repair, and I expect things to be much better tomorrow.

Thanks everyone. :)

So Mac, just how much are human gall bladders going for now? I understand that bear gall bladders are pretty pricey in some countries, and after all who'd know? Maybe you oughta see if you can get it back if it's not too late? ;)

Mac in all seriousness and by all means do your breathing exercises and deep coughing as that'll help clear out the residual anesthetic better than anything!

Mac whatever you do take it a bit easier than you think maybe you can get away with. Regardless of how you may feel your body has undergone quite a lot and it still needs time to recover.

Die hard!

Yeah, boy! :D

From what I understood in my pharmaceutically-induced torpor, I had signed away the mineral rights to the bladder, and so I no longer have any actionable or practical ownership of it.:( ;)

Curse you for agreeing with my tormentors!:p;)

Sounds like you are the tract to recovery, Mac:thumbup: Positive smoke going up for a speedy recovery:)
